Stunty reality according to PainState
This is my official stance on Stunty and the reality of the Division.
1)Stunty is about BLOOD. It is about CAS, it is about mayhem.
2)Stunty is not about Bowl or balling. Common tactics of regular Blood Bowl are fools gold in stunty.
3)Path of least resistance is the key to success. KILL ALL STUNTY. Nothing else matters. Bash, kick, dp boots, sneaky git fouls and PO blitz is the key to victory.
4)Attrition rulss the day in Stunty. Embrace it and accept it. Trying to "ball" and run a 8 turn stall on the goal line in the first half are for the birds in stunty.
5)Stunty is all about the tactics of linning up your opponeets "killers" and KILL THEM FIRST. Last CAS monster left on the pitch wins, usually.
6)If you cant line up your opponeets killers then kill the stunty guarders. Kill enough stunties and then the big guys are left on a shortmanned team with no protection. They are sitting ducks.
7)Foul every stinking turn once you get a 2 man advantage. Lean on them, grind them into the pitch. Keep increasing the man advantage every turn.
8)If you suffer under this belief that stunty is Blood Bowl light...you need to reevaluate on your play style in stunty. It will only lead to frustration.
9)Stunty games have this nasty habit of coming down to 6 V 7 and some whackey play happens and you end up coming from behind to tie or win on some crazy plays or some hot CAS dice. If there are more than 5 turns left in the match you can allways come back with a chance to win/tie. Albeit it might be small but a chance and that is all you can ask for.
10) Stunty is all about generating as much hitting firepower as you can. Blow up the opponeet in the fastest way possible. All out assault mind set.
11)If you lose and your team is decimated. Who cares? it is stunty. Maybe, just maybe it is because they got the drop on you first and blew up your team because you thought PainStates advice was for the birds. You cant discount the possiblility.
12)In the end you still need to score more than your opponeet. BUT it is so much easier if he has 4 guys left on the pitch for your final drive of the game for victory. |

Agree, except for point 11. If I lose I DO care. Fouling, bashing, killing and using every kind of dirty trick have a purpose: winning the damn game, that's it. |

AV7+Stunty+Dodge is actually pretty hard to kill. Not only is the guy hard for most Stunty players to pow, but every AV roll against him is another 1/6 chance that he's safe from permanent damage.
Mind you, it's bloody anyway (more wacky, more removal) but if you're smart the average Goblin or Gnoblar Trapper or whatever can actually maintain a pretty respectable "skill memory". |

#4 is a misnomer...
cheater strategy is to get the ball early, and stall for 8 turns and eliminate as many players as possible...the goal line stall is a very common tactic for cheaters to win, and cause as many casualties as possible in the process

yeah, if you are loaded with secret weapons, stalling is fun and sensible. |

#13: A rookie Goblin is a wonderful workhorse player in Stunty. AV7 is tough. Even a rookie Gnoblar or Brownie can do great things.
#14: Except maybe on some positionals, always take the doubles and stats!
#15: Keep track of the inducements you can take: different Stars for different situations, even more than in "normal" BB!
#16: Risk management in Stunty is pretty similar, but a conventional sense of positioning will only take you so far! |

Stunty reality according to WhatBall:
#1 Do whatever you want as long as you and your opponent are having fun.
That is it. |

That sounds suspiciously like 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law'... |

If there is truth in this mantra (and it certainly has some ring of truth to it), then some teams are essentially doomed to fail, aren't they? Namely, any team that doesn't have real "killers" in their roster (or not without some very lucky skill rolls).
Specifically, that would be (with the best "killers" they can muster)...o Eshins Adepts (2 x St 2 AV 6 Stab A; 1 x St 2 AV 6 Stab, Claw, Pro GA)
o Forest Goblin (4 x Stab A; 2 x St 3 AS)
o Pygmy (2 x St 2 AV 6 Claw GA; 1 x St 5 MB Krox S)
o Skinks (2 x St 2 Dauntless Frenzy GAS) If these guys don't get VERY lucky on Cas dice (and on both sides of it, esp for the AV 6), they have to rely on balling - and by PS's argument, above, that ain't gonna work (or not for long).
Any counter-argument? |

Yeah, Skinks can build and maintain some decent kill if they can get doubles, and are so fast they can lose the attrition war and keep winning anyway. Forest Goblins with their 4x Stab and their G-access and AS access guys, kill very nicely even without any dedicated killers. You're quite right about Eshin and Pygmy, though Eshin at least have the benefit of being good when Stab goes off. Pygmy are hopeless: for all the awesomeness of Kroxigors, they are so devoid of any other avenues. All the special warriors are just silly: the crocodile warrior looks like a potted plant, and this appearance very much does it justice (and not in the Hundred Feet Heroes sense, either). |

My Eshin team has a 9/4/1 record with a 14 TD diff but a -20 cas diff. Most of my stunty teams play similar to the original post, but my Eshin ball pretty hard with no attempt to keep up in any attrition battle. |

I get the feeling that a LOT of Stunty teams invite the same approach with many of their players that Lizardman teams use w/ their Skinks - if they don't double or +stat by 16 spp (or maybe 31?*), dump 'em and try again.

The first part, you're talking total crap.
The second part I vehemently disagree with. If you can do better, you're welcome to redesign them and make the icons.
However, I doubt you'd do a better job than they are now, so I'd certainly be retiring the most senior active pygmy team. |

Not a counter argument but a follow up.
Long version deleted.
Short version:
Path of least resistance to win a stunty match is through the CAS. hands down.
Big boy Blood Bowl the path of least resistance is through stalling and balling. Although CPOMB keeps bashing us over the head to convince us otherwise.
Now the stunty teams who win by scoring and not by bashing win matches the baller way...BUT...take a huge CAS diffrential and suffer at the high TV range because they can never get 8+ guys "up and running" so to speak. They go for the 4 stars with 12 chumps hanging around approach. |
