Yes, it's all down to a shadowy clique.
Of course, the winning qualifiers all received an invite to the finals, which some chose to ignore as they were outside the clique. There is a entire team dedicated to running Tournaments, any of whom could have been asked by PM or in IRC, but clearly only members of the clique do that. And applying to the finals once you have won a qualifier (or accepting the invitation) is standard practice, for those in the clique. People in the clique often read the Tournament info:

We tend to call our clique 'Normal People', feel free to join.
Chavo was excluded, by an error from the Tournament team, from the qualifiers for one of the 8 yearly Majors. He was apologised to at the time. But it makes the expectation that someone else do all the work and the lack of responsibility for his team all the more surprising. |

** Milford from the Ulthuan Main Draw **
Well FUMBBL fans Iam back. I made a vow never to drink again. I woke up this morning and realized that was a stupid vow, it was just the hangover talking. I now have a glass of scotch in my hand, a clear head and steady hands.
The Final 16 are set and what a motley crew of finalist for the UI. Some new faces in the main draw and some old hands. A couple mirror matches and a few front runners squaring off in the opening round. It should be a very interesting run to the finals.
Lets break this down.
Due to time constraints I will do the quick fire format.
High and Mighty Blow VS Knights of Aultmar
High and Mighty get a wizard and have a 11 man squad against a 14 man Dark Elf blodged up team. This one comes down to the wizard in the closing turns. BUT the Knights have shortmanned the High and Mighty to the point it does not matter.
Knights win 2-1

Mirkwood Misfits VS Loren Leapers
Misfits who show up with 2 J-men and a bag full of inducement money against a Leaper squad who has a very nice squad although 3 of them roll along in wheel chairs on the pitch.
Wizard + inducment goodies going up against a 12 man squad + wheel chairs = Misfits win this one and get a defensive TO late in the match to win 3-1

Zwirbelbarte VS Du Svaredenvyrd II
Interesting CD vs Wood Elf match up in this one. I will go back to the well on this prediction. Can the CD lay out the woodies and get the win or will the Woodies AV hold up and they take the match on their natural grace and agility.
It will be a even TV match...that is no bueno for the woodies. Zwirbelbarte win this match 2-1 and stack the woodies deep in the CAS boxes.

Fistercoven Bears VS Blood Red
A classic Dwarf VS CPOMB chaos in this match. A massive cloud of dust billows up at mid field and the teams are obscured by the dust cloud that the scrumm produces. All we hear are the cries of pain and agony, a head or two comes rolling out to give us a glimpse on who is winning the fight. We all sit in anticipation of who will emerge from the dust cloud with the ball? The +STAT freak dorf runner or the Two Headed 4 Armed beastman?
Toss up match.....Going with the Claw and Blood Red....2-1...this one gives us bonus time and it is decided in OT.

Beyond the Edge of Reason VS Dirty dead creeps
We got a undead smack down in this one. So who is better...Wolves of the necro or the Mummies of the undead. My coverage of the KPL says Undead should come out on top in this match up.
BUT
Reason has 2 ST5 golems to match up against those Mummies but they are giving up some inducment money..This is going to be a close match.
Ah, heck with it...going with the wolves.. Reason over the creeps...2-1 in a close fought match that comes down to the closing turns and one golden shot on the ball carrier wolf and they blow it.

CRP Force VS Chaos Waste Crushers
High Elf VS Chaos in this match.
CRP shows up getting some nice inducment money. Bring the +AG and look to elf ball the CPOMB chaos into the ground. The Crushers have some majors skins on the wall and look to lay out those pointy ear suckers.
Comes down to the wizard vs the CPOMB.
Iam going with the petigree of the Crushers in this one. They manage to lay out enough elves and win this one 2-1 after some closing turn banzai blitz moves by the CRP to save the day.

mekmania VS They Mostly Come at Night
Chaos VS Dark Elf in this very interesting match up
Even match up in TV...Darkies show up with a 12 man squad and the +Stat. Against a few claws and tentacles.
All going to hinge on the CAS once again. If the CAS do not flow the Chaos scumm are sunk. They do bring the obligatory AG4 ball handling beastman though.
This one should come down to the closing turns. It will all hang in the balance and then the +Stat of the Darkies take over and win the match on the last turn on some stout +AG dice rolling.
Come at Night win this one 3-2

mekmania advances!
It was a rough game. Ultimately, my elves unwillingness to get the ball loose proved to be their undoing. Also unfortunate was a bug causing my easy and successful OTT to be lost on reloading the game at the start of the second half. I need to look into it a bit more but I am not motivated to do that at the moment. We fell just short on the second attempt, as pows were RR to pows, causing us to make a 3+ 2+ dodge rather than a 2+ dodge and it proved a bit too much. Hard fought into OT but then the remaining wagon wheel fell off.
