which browser are you using? have you tried clicking on the .jnlp file to open it after it downloads?

do you have a firewall, if so which one?

If you want to get help you need to give much more info than that.

You say 'javaws.exe' started but that tells us pretty much nothing.

It's the FFB client you have to start with javaws.exe.

If, for instance, you were to go into your java folder and started javaws.exe manually, of course nothing would happen.

So lets go through the process:

1. You go on your coach page.

2. Look for the little play link next one of your teams.

3. Click the link, it should ask you to open or download the link.

4. Open the linked file with javaws.exe

5. If it doesn't work, download the linked file.

6. Go into your download folder. Open the linked file with javaws.exe.

If that doesn't work, get back to me.

I do have the same problem. I am using firefox and I followed the steps you mention.

1.- Went to my coach page, no problem there.

2.- Looked for the little link and pressed it (tried viewing other games and even replays of my own matches and that did not work either)

3.- Clicked it and chose to open file, no problem there either.

4.- Javaws.exe opened and tried to open the file as it usually does.

5.- And oh the tragedy!!!!!! here is where the file does not open, stating the aplication cannot be initiated. (No se ha podido iniciar la aplicaciĆ³n)

6.- I did try downloading it, but the problem remains the same following exactly the same patern that 4 and 5 describes.

I also reinstalled Java and restarted the computer, cleared cache and tried internet explorer and firefox(never tried chrome).

Try deleting all existing jnlp files in download directory before opening. Consecutive downloads often get a space in them or some such which may not load properly. Also weird things might happen once you get to 99 existing jnlp files. Its worth a try anyway.

any additional information you can give would help.. like the OS you use, do you use oracles java, the version, the firewall you have.. whether it worked before... if it changed with a new version... if you changed anything between it working and not working on your computer... also I'd like to know more about the error message you recieve.. since it's spanish I wouldn't know precisely what it would be in english.. do you get an error code or any other information?

Oh, one more important thing.
You said you reinstalled java.

Which makes me assume, you deleted the old java, then installed it again.

If you just installed it over the old version that may cause problems.

One possible explanation is that there is a damaged version of the downloaded client.

Only by completely uninstalling java first would you make sure that that old version is gone.

This is probably AVG then, it can stop Java running. Beyond my technical knowledge, but Christer recommends getting rid of it and getting Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

Well I did forget to mention one thing. I am in China, and the chinese government sometimes has the "genius" idea of blocking random things, so i did not mention it before, thinking it was something of the sort and that they would unblock it in time (like they usually do). However, after seing someone else has the same problem ( and assuming he is not in China too), I though I would mention it, just in case I could help.

Still it would help to know if and when it stopped working and what changed since then.

AVG is indeed a huge issue but it would be interesting to know if it worked with it before.

I'd ask you to shut AVG off for the download and then try again. You need to only block it for a couple of seconds so that it doesn't scan and block the download at the same time. Once the client is downloaded, it should work.
You can probably also correct it somewhere in the settings.

I'm as of yet still a bit sceptical if that is truely the issue. I'd expect a bit of a different story for that type of error but it's a strong possibility.
Give us an update when you are done.

Well i did suspect about the blocking thing, which pointed out to me to chinese blocking internet as I explained before. Happened to me lots of times before with many different programs so I (being that I am not so good at computers) just let it be and they would unblock it in time. The program did work before even with the AVG and it is unabled with it too. Could not say i had other problems or changes that could cause it, at least not that I reallised. I did get disconected from games every now and then, but that i assumed was faulty internet connection (again, not the best in China). When you live in this country, you learn that coping with things working halfassed is part of everydays life . Laughing I am not sure what extra information i can give you to be honest, but if anything comes to mind or if you think of anything I will try my best to give it to you.

Ok I do have an update. After your imput, I looked around and I did find a way to disable AVG temporarilly so in theory it is not interfeering any more with the program. Still exactly the same thing happened so I beliebe we can safelly assume that AVG is not the problem here.
