Basically just as the thread title says. I would be interested in starting a Rugby Union themed League. We have an NFL themed one, a Football themed one based on England so why not this?

So just looking to see if anyone would be interested in joining or commissioning such a league with me? Discussion is welcome as are any ideas on rules for the league.

Very tempting. As long as we can pass forwards.

OBBA could always add an offshoot egg-chaser league.

But we'd need fluff, like no forward passing, etc.

Of course not, only back passes!!! Wink

Joking aside, It would be an interesting thought though, but I don't know how popular that would be?

Is that a joke though? You haven't made it clear on whether you want to just use fluff or try to use rugbyesque rules. As examples, you can set the client to play with 15 players. And Garion has some stats for rugby style players.

Now that I did not know. That sounds cool. How would it work with 15 on the pitch? Is it not a bit crowded and how would expensive teams get 15 players at the start? Can teams be gifted cash by the league admin?

15-a-side could be fun to try, but I agree that it would probably get too crowded. Back passes only would be almost a necessity, I'd think.

I think the Rugby Union league structure in England could be interesting to use, although maybe just one up/one down out of each league might be too static. Having said that, you always get drop-outs, so having one officially guaranteed promotion, but with potentially others going up too, could work.

Essentially the system is 12 teams per division, top four compete in playoffs, bottom one is relegated. In the top division they have a salary cap too, which I'd like to see but admittedly isn't to everyone's tastes.

Sounds great. You could have requirements on set up, so they have to form a scrum and back line before kick off.
