Just finished the opening game of the tournament (as far as I can see).

Sorry for the long summary. Skip it and watch the game. It is worth your time.

https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=3597905

I think the game will not disappoint the fans. Even when played this morning, not less than 18 fans spected it. It was tense all the game long with both teams doing what they do best.

In the first drive, the Lords decided to receive hoping for some damage and a quick TD which would allow for a full squad defence but a pitch invasion with 2 vamps stunned kept them for running the line, which coupled with a first snaked block. Not a good start.

The chaos came to full contact and try to profit from the downed vamps. Next turn vamps snaked the gfi when ready to foul the beast tcpomber leaving the vamps exposed to early revenge. The chaos seized their opportunity to hit st5 vamp and CASed him. But it seems he was ready for some more BB and regenerated inmediately.

With declining numbers, vamps felt the hurry and rushed forward taking serious chances. Chaos manouvered to send the st5 tent CW to stop the ball carrier but he was not used to so much running (where is my bashing?, he tought) and triped, leaving it open for the vamp score.

Just before scoring, vamps managed to send KO the second tackle beast in the chaos team. Eventually this was important as he never came back leaving it to only 1 tackler in the field for the chaos. And then, vamps scored. 1-0. but long time to go.

The defence started with a deep kick and only 1 cased thrall in the LOS. Though one more thrall was cased by the Lords lusting on him next turn, vamps managed to outflanck the chaos with the ball still deep.

Some chaos players were attracted to the outflanked side while the other was open for an easy advance.

The gap was open for the st5 vamp to try to reach the BC, blitzing the tcpomber beast in the process. Chaos had plenty of players to cover the ball carrier and push the vamp, but noone with tackle and thus he kept standing.

Ball carrier run forward with some coverage heading to the center of the field, leaving his back open. Gaze allowed the vamps to get rid of the st5 tent CW to be able to attack the ball, which they did with some dodging by main vamp hitter.

Despite the st4, chaos BC with no block was easy prey for the vamp. The bounce was clearly not the best possible but vamp runner managed to pick the ball and head backwards to flee from the would be scorers.

With hope lost, chaos focused on hitting power. Still, they sent a beast to annoy the runner, but vamps surfed him easily. With the clocking marking the last turn, vamps fouled the tcpomber beast and cased him, though apo was ready to patch him back.

So, we got ready for second half still 1-0 ahead. This time, the LOS lost 2 players and the chaos grouped heavily around the BC. Again, first target of the vamps was the hitter beast. But the chaos still decided to blitz with him the marking thrall.

With an st5 vamp beyond their defence line, chaos players decided to step back and mark him heavily, relying on the st5 tent CW to keep him tied. But he was again gazed and a gap opened for the vamp hitter to the BC who was downed and let the ball loose only 5 squares away from the scoring line. But it proved to be too far.

With most of the team marked by vamp players, there were not many free players to counter for the 2 vamps already by the ball. A little bit discouraged by vamps' success, the chaos resorted to bash some players out to feel better. Super legend vamp was cased but he also felt ready for some more BB and regenerated. Next block, another runner vamp was cased but he also regenerated, much to the annoy of the chaos bashers.

Fill with success and with courage recovered, CW by the ball entered the vamp's TZ and pick the ball dodging away with ease. So close and so far. With only 7 players left vs 11, vamps have to take chances and the lonely blitz to the BC was a push due to the RR spent in keeping the vamp free from the BL fail.

The rest of the half saw some bashing and fouling while the chaos BC strolled to the scoring line. So hard it seemed, that one vamp went away due to a BL fail. Safe he was now. The chaos invested their time in fouling getting rid of st5 vamp by KOing him. With only 5 players left and all downed, the vamps simply looked while chaos fouled and scored. The last vamp regenerated another CAS due to a foul and thus no serious damage was suffered by the vamps. 1-1

The vamps then had 2 chances for the KOs which proved important as they were able to set a full squad for the OT. But chaos received. Only good news was rr count was 4-1 in vamps' favour.

With the 3 LOS thralls out, it looked grimm. As they were unable to knock the blitzed beast, they decided to rr. 3-1 rr count now. Despite the lower numbers, vamps fouled the st4cpomber beast which still kept most of their players ready for storm either side.

Then, chaos took the chance and passed to a free beast not far from scoring range. it was an all or nothing bet for both teams. Despite the used up their last rr, the receiver was unable to catch. With vamps players in the middle, they were able to fall back and pick the ball with no serious menace in reach.

Some misscounting by the chaos made him blitz 1d the st5 advanced vamp. Still he was able to send him out with a KO. But the apo quickly sponged him to keep him on the pitch. Chaos went on to stun 2 more vamps in the same turn, leaving only 2 vamps and 2 thralls by the ball to keep it safe. Still, the worst menaces to the BC were not close.

Tne ensuing blitz by the CW managed to push the BC out of tent reach. In return, a gang foul was unleashed on the st5 vamp and he was finally sent out. But chaos had already consumed 4 turns and ball was on vamps hands and the rr count was still 3-0. By then, they already realized their best chance were the shoot outs.

And thus, the vamps fell back leaving a lot of space to be covered by chaos players, though only 4 vamp defenders were standing. But Nuffle blessed vamps with double skulls in the chaos blitz which was taken as first action, leaving all chaos players staring at the ball. Even a gazed CW was left gazed, which allowed for a very easy regroup around the ball.

Chaos did not make the same mistake, moving every player before the blitz. But their 2 blocks were unable to send a player out and thus the vamps were able to regroup again in a deeper position. While doing this, a vamp felt the lust, but no rr was spent and he found some willing thrall nearby. with only 2 turns left for chaos, it seemed good enough.

There was no more room for vamps after an agressive chaos move which marked every available player, including the ball carrier. And then, it was the BC himself who failed the lust roll. Still, no rr was spent and he also feed on thralls.

Last vamp also failed the roll and he headed off as the rr was not spent.

But that opened an opportunity for chaos. Not an easy one but still an achievable chance. They set the trap and sent a dodging CW to blitz the BC. He rolled a 6 and surfed the vamp. The throw in was very near the back beast. With plenty of would be scorers, it was down to 3+3+ to score.

But he was a rookie and too nervous for the task and he found the ball a bit greasy and thus he was unable to pick it up.

Vamps asked for the final wistle and, yes, it was a WIN due to the +3 rr left all through the second half and the OT.

Thanks very much to drunkagent for this superb game.

My girls are such underdogs in QII. It will be a pleasure to use my "welcome-back-after-summer-luck" in 3 straight games ;-D First off, five not very useful claws for tauro. After that easy win (;-D) I assume some fast and hard-hitting rats. Bring it on!

Thanks Wreckage for the great write up of Qualifier III, in which we will hopefully meet in the final. It's given me a heads up on what to expect. I agree with your analyses, apart from the last game obviously Smile
p.s. btw, I think you miscounted, I have 9 Guard, not 8 ;P
