More interest - better!
What I think what we'll do is have everyone join with a "dummy" team before Apes are officially released, so I can use the League mail/etc. Then we'll figure out who gets what "other" teams, and so on.
So if you're interested, drop any spare [L] team into the League - no problem if you're playing with them in the meantime, makes no diff here. Once we're ready, your Ape team + assigned "other" team will take their place, and off we go.

I'm hoping(!) that if coaches are paired up, playing back-to-back games will help with the scheduling.
I know it won't in all cases, but even if not it will be hella better than scheduling 2 games w/ 2 diff coaches in the same time period. And 1 game/week really means a 2-week cycle for each Ape team - too slow imo.
BUT I could be wrong, so we'll play it by ear - if too many coaches feel pressed for time, we can stretch it out.

Those "other" teams will be decided once we have all our coaches in the League. I'm not doing "first come, first served", sorry.
(What I'm thinking of doing is asking everyone for a "top 5", and then going from there, trying to give everyone "something" that they are happy with, even if not their #1 (or 2 or 3) favorite.
If those top 5 don't do it, then it may have to be random.) |

I do.
2 issues - 1) playing Apes v. playing another team v. 100% Apes; and 2) how to assign those "other".
If everyone wants to play Apes, they can either all play each other, Ape v. Ape, or "someone" has to run those "other" teams.
Fairest way is to make everyone do double duty - one Ape, one other. It's not quite "2 games/round" b/c you only have to schedule w/ 1 coach for the 2 games - a ~little~ easier. If you have the time (and inclination), you can play the 2 games back-to-back, or back-to-back days - done.
This way, you also see Apes from the other side - not the worst solution imo.
Then, re the choice of "other"...
Because the teams play as a pair (my apes v. your other, your apes v. my other), "everyone" will want to play certain teams, to inflict max damage on their opponents. It's already happened with just a half-dozen coaches.
And I would like to see how Apes do against the full spectrum of teams, or as much as reasonable.
Those coaches who are happy NOT playing a popular team as their "other" will get their choice. Those who want to play one of the popular teams will have to dice for it.
BUT - I'm NOT going to force any "forlorn" teams on anyone! No Gobbos, Halflings, Ogres, Underworld, Vamps (not unless people volunteer for them!) We'll have ~16 of the 24 "other" teams represented, then start taking duplicates. So that part of "random" is not in the mix.
(What I'll pro'ly do is ask everyone for a "Top 5" and a "Bottom 5", and try to give everyone something that they are happy(-ish) with, and not something they just don't want.) |

16 Coaches replied "Yes" in the poll, and we've now got half that who've submitted teams, so we've hit critical mass and will be starting Season 1 soon!
