He was a great looking Tree... the only plus is you still get similar value from a rookie tree |

RIP Instructor Wood. You burned brightly for a short time. You were too good to be true. |

This league doesn't like Beautiful ST 7 players http://www.fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=9411956 ... and has a habit of letting them die to 1 dice blocks then posthumously awarding them an MVP |

So I thought I would give an update on my quest to build an orc team that will outblock (in quantity, not quality) all of its opponents
Games Played: 26
Blocks thrown: 1444
Blocks against: 896
Average blocks per game: 53
Average against: 33
Games I have blocked more than opponent: 24
Games I haven't: 2 (Malapropism Mania, BOTH times, 49-44 in my second game and 49-43 in my eighth) |

50 is a lot of blocks. To average over that number is a good effort. |

Over 3 blocks per turn average? How do you even do that? |

Yes, from a fluff point of view it was a disaster but from a bloat/team progression angle it doesn't matter too much.
220k is a lot of team value for a piece that is basically there to be hit instead of the Elves. The replacement will do it 90% as well for half the cost. The only real issue is the depleted treasury.
And yes, Nuffle was kind enough to provide me with a replacement stat boost anyway. |

I would consider yourself adequately compensated.
There is something to be said for the unassisted 3db, but it's not a huge boost. Do you think you would take it again or in hindsight would you take block instead? |

I like hitting stuff! Also I've played a lot more bash than not, block wars instead of having people dodge away. Although my win record is even so although I'm pulling off my game plan it clearly isn't worth it.
That tree already had block did it not? I am amazed at anyone that takes +ST on big guys, I wouldn't do that unless they had block, pro, dodge & tackle. |

Agreed. Although since it wasn't actually an exchange I would have preferred to have a St7 Block Tree and an Ag5 Dancer.

I was lucky enough to roll a double next so then its great. A St7 peice is great fun but probably the optimum play is the Block under the assumption you won't roll a double again so quickly. |

The thing is he is there to be hit and soak up opponents and despite the St7 people still hit him. With the extra St they had to commit an extra player so its even better.
Probably a good case could be made for Block before St, but certainly not the other three for a Wood Elf Tree. |

Tackle would be useless
Pro would allow an auto reroll of take root
Dodge would keep him upright better than +ST but tie up one less player
Personally I would take pro & dodge over +ST.. Maybe not dodge but def pro |

NOOOO!!!!!! You fools you mad deluded Fools!! Always take the +Str!!
No real reason other than its lots of fun to then have people always saying in threads, 'you should take block before +str'
No seriously +str big guys rock and soon become the heart and soul of a team. Never doubt it, it was the right call.
edit: (points to sig) |
