White Rock actually has 9 points too.

Though we only played 5 games because of other teams being too scared to face us.

In any case, this season is a waste for White Rock, I can only hope the 2nd half has more people willing to play us :p

Sorry, must have missed some match or something.

But this makes second half even more interesting for our in-conference match ups!

A bit late, because both my match and another of my group got delayed this week, and I'm tire from doing tons of stuff around here, but here's this week Western ReSport, enjoy!

Western ReSport #8
NWFL reaches the second half of it’s 11th season! Interesting week for the AFC West teams. Koskun recovered from their many injuries against Butte Kickers during round 7. Regarding that match, now coach Palorrin ows his colleague Charlie from St. Paul Apostles loads of beer, in account of the long list of casualties that the nurglites stamped on the chaos team. Back in the AFC West, Frogcisco suffered a dire defeat in their hands. All the while, Alberta couldn’t hold their ground against defending champion White Rock Midnight, while B.Aires emerged victorious after meeting the returned Saphery Poets elves.

Meanwhile, new opponents appeared for the second half of the season. It’s the AFC East division, and they'll pose a ferocious challenge, as they too struggle not only to win their own division, but to grab a wild card spot in the play-offs.
So stay with us: everything you need to know about the AFC West division of the NWFL league, you'll find it here, in the Western ReSport!

Koskun Falls Immortals 4 – 0 Slann Frogcisco 49ers
Second half of the season couldn’t start as different as the first one ended for both these teams. Koskun Falls recovered from their late missteps, while Slann Frogcisco couldn’t sustain their better results from the last few matches. Injuries suffered in their last match meant that the frogs had the upper hand, and humans hired a star player. They started by exerting strong pressure on the possible receiver and the ballcarrier and that tactic quickly paid off, as they forced some dodges. Catcher Dwight Clark failed his, smashed his ankle and when the apothecary removed his lungs to secure his foot, coach CW couldn’t care less. Clark left the pitch and this life early in the game. By turn 3, casualties and ko’s had started to mount and humans scored on turn 5. Doubling their opponents and getting a blitz, they repeated the drill the drive after and touchdowned yet again on turn 8. Thus, first half end with them leading the scoreboard.

Already 3-0 up in the scoreboard, Immortals took it easy from that point onward. They caged, but a blitz by his frogginess Jerry Rice freed the ball. When they couldn’t put him down for good the turn after, he stole the ball. He tried to run free, but to no avail. Humans got the ball back on turn 3, only to lose it again the turn after. It’d have been a td for the 49ers, but the same Jerry failed while pushing too hard a run, and Koskun recovered the ball while he was still dreaming of tasty flies. Frogs blitzed the ball free once more, but oculdn’t hold it, and Immortals scored at the end of the half, for a brilliant win.

Up next, Koskun will meet argentinian newcomer and tournament surprising team Cordoba Fernets, while 49ers will go against North West Walking Brawls.

B.Aires Tangueros 2 – 1 Saphery Poets
Tangueros entered the field pressured by the strong result gained by Koskun Falls Immortals in their own match. And indeed, against the elven Poets it was a tense late-night match. Anxiety played a role in the first half, that saw both teams missing important moments: argentinian pacters mistakenly blitz first, and and elven arcane caster rushed his fireball to little effect, an error that probably cost Ardonite's players the match. Saphery started with possession, looking for the best angle by changing flanks. But B.Aires' pressure resulted in an early touchdown by turn 4, while the ball was in dire dispute. Five turns proved enough for Tangueros, that also resorted to a changing flanks tactic, tough forced by Saphery's smart defense. They finally scored on the last minute of the half, after the elves forced them to double-pass cross-field.

Second half, already tied and with possession, Tangueros resorted to steadily bashing elves, knocking them out on a regular basis or taking them out of the field, by the sidelines, while trusting their own renegade elf to hold the ball safe. By turn 5, only five elves remained in the field, and all were linemen. Even with those odds, Poets managed to blitz the carrier and set the ball free, tough that lasted only half a turn. Canaro recovered possession for the Tangueros and the match was set.

Up next, Poets will re-encounter White Rock Midnight, while Tangueros will go against Alberta Bone Chillers, whom they beat 2-0 in the first half of the season.

Alberta Bone Chillers 0 – 3 White Rock Midnight
"We lost the match, but we did some damage", declared coach Jorj after all was said and done. Indeed, his Bone Chillers lost the encounter, but no less than three regular players won't show up for next Midnight's round. First half, dark elves managed to elude khemri's pressure and stall until turn 7, when they scored. And though they endured the hardest end of the bargain, both team suffered knock outs and injuries.

Second half would be equally bloody, but more eventful, as early on White Rock the undead team lost focus, forgot the advancing dark elves and tried a pass that failed and left the ball unattended against the swarming opponents. Midnight scored on turn 4. The following drive would prove equally worthy for Licker. Even tough he opened the space for khemri to score without fear of any intervention, a new failed pass opened them the chance to move forward and grab the ball, this time in their own field. White Rock then dodged, screened and marched on to get their third touchdown on the last second.

Next round White Rock will meet Saphey Poets, while Bone Chillers will have to deal with B.Aires Tangueros.

Cordoba Fernets 0 – 5 North West Walking Brawls
Last Western ReSport it was pointed out how fierce competition would be amongst AFC East teams. Well, Walking Brawls showed their fans how much they are eager to get to play-offs! Everything worked for them in this match, and little or next to nothing for the argentinian necros. Undead's turn 2 was key for the match, as they injured without regeneration the strongest wight and one of the flesh golems. When Hack Enslash met the end of his own chainsaw immediately after and caused a turnover for Fernets, they were doomed. North West walked their brawls all over them instantly, taking out of the match a werewolf and stealing the ball for the first time. Keggie McKil's players scored on turn 6, and even managed a second touchdown by the end of the half.

Walking Brawls started with possession on the second half, and they took advantage of that. Even when failing their first pick-up attempt and getting the ball surrounded, they managed to get hold of it and marched forward. They scored on turn 3 and outmanned their opponents for the next drive. At the first chance, a series of extraordinary dodges allowed DeWight ChokeHim to grab the ball and pass it to a fellow ghoul, who failed the catch. On turn 6, they scored again, and a quick start on the following drive allowed them to guard the ball. But Cordoba then failed yet another pick up and Brawls profited from that: ChokeHim grabbed the ball and got in range for the fifth touchdown. Match was over well before he accomplished it.

Fernets will try to recover against Koskun Falls Immortals, both teams willing to claim one of the two conference's wild spots for the play offs. North West will try to secure it's position against Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

Out of division match of the week
St. Paul Apostles (NWF West) 1 – 1 Butte Kickers (NWF West)

For our out of division match of the week we brought you two old buddies from the first half of the tournament. And there was beer involved! After the outstanding defeat suffered against OTS' chaotic players, coach Pallorin from Koskun Falls Immortals promised dozens of cases of beer for anyone delivering him Kickers' heads, limbs or just blood samples. And Apostles were thirsty! Apostles pounded Kickers to the ground, and even managed a niggling injury on everyone's feared Crowbar, but poor ball handling skills prevented them from winning the match.

Nurglites closed ranks pretty well first half, but their too-chaotic opponents managed to find a hole through to freedom… and the endzone. But without Crowbar, their most important killer, Butte found difficulties to hurt their opponents. Thus, St. Paul marched forward on the second half. Have they trusted their strength more, they might have scored earlier, when they outmanned Kickers 11 to 6 (or even 11 to 5, a couple turns later) and aimed for a win, but they settled with the tie and didn't reached the endzone until their last turn. Still, all those cas surely meant some nice cases of beer!

I probably should have pushed for the win, but would have been Butte kicking myself if you would have turned the tables and pulled out a 2-1. Your AV dice were so cold I didn't want to chance them heating up.

Team hasn't been playing up to potential. Going to have to change the training regimen, or feed them more flesh.

Maybe I should just execute a couple to send a message.

They are just having a slow month. But... hell, you lost your first match in two seasons and you decimated (and won) a team after that. Now you just tied, next team will be fearing your wrath! Very Happy

I salute the Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers!

1 case of beer to Reggie Wight for breaking Crunch Davis' jaw!
2 cases of beer to Paul Walker for breaking Stitches' neck!
2 more cases of beer to Reggie Wight for smashing Skillet's collar bone!
10 cases of beer to Bad Ash for his lethal foul of Sigvald the Magnificent! (Despite the failure to deliver Sigvald the Magnificent's head, coach Palorrin determined that forcible recruitment was sufficiently insulting to the Butte Kickers and thus earned the full 10 cases.)

Once again, I salute the Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers for their efforts to seek vengeance for the victims of the Butte Kickers.

Western ReSport #9

Round 9 on the eleventh season of the NWFL was a bit slow, with many matches forfeited or cancelled. Because of that, editors at fan-favorite Western ReSport decided to merge reports from rounds nine and ten. Therefore, this installment will include six match reports, but none of them will be the traditional out-of-division match of the week. Our journalists were too busy getting into the exciting details of the AWC West division.

In these two weeks, play-offs possibilities for the AWC West became even clearer and it’s now a close run amongst Koskun Falls Immortals and B.Aires Tangueros. The first ones had won a match, but surprisingly lost another, while the former had been awarded the points for a forfeited match and tied the other. Thus, now Tangueros leads the divison by 3 points.

But coach Palorrin doesn’t seem to bother about that, as he’s been awarding cases of beer all over the place, specially for Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers’ players, who got 15 of those after decimating his hated Butte Kicker, in a pitched battle that included broken jaws, necks, smashed collar bones and even departed for OTS’ chaos team. Even Argentinian Caudillos’ fans were awarded some beers for “their cooperation to smash the hand” of a warrior the match after. “It’s the best revenge campaign ever”, recognized the chaotic coach, who has already let go of his illusions of getting the championship.

Round 11 of the 11th season with be key for the division as both Immortals and Tangueros meet again. Will this match decide who goes to play-offs? Or will they tie again? Will they get a 1-1 to match both the round and the season? Find about that on the next issue of Western ReSport.

Round 9
Koskun Falls Immortals 2 – 0 Cordoba Fernets
Newcomer argentinian team Fernets had a good start in the tournament, but coach Palorrin took him off guard this match, getting a hard earned victory. While on the defense, Cordoba started putting pressure forward and marking the advancing human catchers. Immortals retaliated by fouling a wolf (that regenerated) and freed their remaining catcher. Necros pushed hard again, injuring a human blitzer and circling the ballcarrier. Meanwhile, turn 3 saw the last of Hack Enslash, banned from the match after a foul. A series of turnovers and failed pick-ups led to turn 8, when the humans defied the odds, pushed a blitzer marking the ball, picked it up even with another mark on it, dodged, run for it twice and finally passed to led the board.

Second half started with a slight numeric advantage for Koskun Falls, because of the banned undead players. That advantage would became clearer on turn 2, after Pazu unleashed a heavy blow on werewolf 1882, who had to leave the field with a broken leg. Necros tried to secure the touchdown after that, while stalling to avoid a loss, but humans pressured well on defense and recovered the ball after a series of bounces. Then, they passed forward to a lineman deep in Fernets’ field and scored on turn 8 for a 2-0 win.

Saphery Poets 1 – 3 White Rock Midnight
Defending champion Licker stood his place against returning Ardonite, getting a much needed win if he wants to defend the title in the upcoming play-offs. In this elves-on-elves match, Poets started on the offense and tried to outflank their darker counterparts. But Midnighters recovered the ball on turn 3, after the high elf thrower missed a pass. A witch grabbed the loose and run forward but couldn’t score. She tripped and Saphery recovered the ball, tough only for a brief turn, because White Rock blitzed again and put Caledor down. By this point, dark elves had three players out and Poets managed to slip by their defense, pass the ball to a free blitzer, go then run for his life, to score on turn 7. But with two players back and a rock stunning a high lineman, Midnight managed to score back at the end of the half.

With the result tied, dark elves ventured forward, balanced the numbers with an early casualty and profited from more turnovers from Caledor, the strong high elf thrower. They scored on turn 3 and dedicated themselves to pressure on defense, after yet another turnover from their high cousins opponents. Knocked out elves and skulls then mounted: by turn 5 half the Poets were sleeping in their boxes. More than enough for them to recover the ball and stall until the clock run out.

Forfeits
Tournament officials awarded B.Aires Tangueros the points for their unplayed match against Alberta Bone Chillers. Slann Frogcisco 49ers too was deemed worthy of the win against North West Walking Brawls, that now compromises its position in the AWC East division.

Round 10
Koskun Falls Immortals 1 – 2 Saphery Poets
Ardonite’s high elves achieved their first victory this season and got Palorrin’s humans in trouble, as they now lag behind division’s leader by three points. Saphery started with possession, securing the line of scrimmage and aiming for one of the flanks. Knocking out a human and an early casualty helped them in the first turns, as well as facing a sillier than usual Immortals’ ogre. Without any rush, but also without any noteworthy plays, turn advanced until elves opted for a pass forward and secured the score on turn 7. Two turns wouldn’t be enough for Koskun Falls, especially after Saphery managed to squeeze a blitz against their best catcher.

A riot moved the clock forward in the second half, and that pressured both teams. Elves feinted a screen, but shortly thereafter swarmed the humans. A Poet managed to blitz the ballcarrier and freed the ball, but failed to pick it up. After the turnover, humans recovered it and screened the new ballcarrier, but elven siege was fierce and forced them to the endzone in turn 6. This time, with 10 player a side, Poets slipped through both flanks, while marking some Immortals, that couldn’t put down any of those scorers in the following turn. Thus, Ardonite’s players managed to free a receiver, pass the ball and stall one last turn, to decide the match in the seventh turn of the half. Koskun Falls attempted the 1TTD, but failed and the game came to an end.

Next round, Koskun will meet B.Aires Tangueros, in a match that might decide the fate of the AWC West division, while Saphery will meet the once again rising Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

B.Aires Tangueros 1 – 1 Slann Frogcisco 49ers
B.Aires missed an important chance to make clear the leadership in AWC West division as Slann Frogcisco managed to deprive them from the victory. But it wasn’t lack of trying. Tangueros went forward at steady pace since the beginning of the match, not injurying, but knocking out several 49ers. By turn 3 pacters outfrogged 49ers by three players in the field. It would have been an easy first half for coach Kalessin’s team if it weren’t for a cunning wizard that put down the renegade elf ballcarrier and injured a marauder allowing the frogs an attempt to mark and grab the ball. Luckily for Tangueros, Piazzolla quickly recovered, dodged and picked up the marked ball. A failed leap later, 49ers conceded the touchdown.

Fortunately for the spectators, most frogs recovered for the second half, with ten of them showing up in the field against the full pacter rooster. A few Tangueros bad choices allowed the frogs to gain field, when the marauders rushed to attack without proper positioning only to find skulls in their way. But then again, Slann got reckless and left their star Jerry Rice unprotected and right along Tangueros renegade skaven. The ball was recovered and ended in Piazzolla’s steady hands again. When, on turn 4, a foul put Frogcisco’s star out of the match, it seemed like a sure win for B.Aires. But coach CW had one more trick under his sleeve: he find a shot at the elf and got back the ball. By the start of turn 7, no frog was in pacter’s field. By the end of its eighth turn, the match was tied for good.

Tangueros will meet Koskun Falls Immortals for the next round, in a key match for the division. 49ers will in turn face the elven Saphery Poets.

Alberta Bone Chillers – North West Walking Brawls
After the Walking Brawls failed to assist the Chillers’ stadium, league’s officials decreed that Alberta would get the points from this match. Next round, Bone Chillers will measure their strengths against Cordoba Fernets, while North West will do the same against the defending champion and AWC East division new leader: White Rock Midnight.

Cordoba Fernets 1 – 1 White Rock Midnight
It was an important match for both teams, wanting to secure a seat in play-offs. Fernets needed the win to close distances against the defending champion, who in turn wished to maintain the momentum that had allowed them to recover the leadership in the AWC East division. In the end, they tie only benefited White Rock, that maintained its two point advantage there.

Cordoba started with its usual inducement strategy, but luck was dire and allowed the dark elves for a quick shot at the ball. A failed pick up, tough, let it in the hands of the Count Luthor Von Drakenborg, a steady reinforcement for the Fernets. From that point onward, necromantics advanced a few steps, only to get fully marked by the elves. Only on turn 5 they managed to slip to one flank, hand the ball to a werewolf and score. With four turns to play, elves had more than enough time to score, but a failed hand over on the last turn prevented them from doing so.

Second half started with Cordoba defending well, but failing to get a clear shot at the dark elf ballcarrier. That chance would come in turn 3, when a tripping comrade left him in the open to discover the feeling of wolf’s claws at his throat. Fernets pushed as hard as they could, but weren’t able to get possession of the ball. Then, midnighters did what elves do: dodge, pick up against the odds, hand it off under heavy pressure, dodge again and run for the endzone. The score would seal the match, tough some more trying would come from both teams, unfortunately to no avail. Now Fernets will try to keep pace against Alberta Bone Chillers and White Rock will defend its leadership against North West Walking Brawls.

Western ReSport #10

Round 11 has proven key for definitions at the AWC West division, as chaos pact team B.Aires Tangueros narrowly defeated Koskun Falls Immortals’ humans and has almost secured a place in the upcoming play-offs. Not only that, but Tangueros remains the only unbeaten team this regular season and lead the entire conference with18 points until a couple of games put Arizona Night Lizards in that position, with 1 point and one more match. If they win against Cordoba Fernets next round, they’ll reclaim that position. Also close and with one more match is fellow argentinian team Buenos Aires Titans, with 18 points.

Koskun, on the other hand, will have to deal with their injuries to face Alberta Bone Chillers on round 12 and has to face too the Walking Brawls and the midnighters. Still, they have good odds to enter play-offs via a wild card.

Make sure to follow the exciting definition of both the AWC West division and the entire conference here, on fan-favorite Western ReSport!

Koskun Falls Immortals 0 – 1 B.Aires Tangueros
Coach Palorrin conceded the initiative in the first half, and Tangueros went full throttle trying hard to take out as many humans as they could from the field. But a surprising amount of skulls (three doubles and a triple one!) would got in their way. After they clustered in the middle, Immortals resorted to a light screen defense, with some blocks to open the cage. Luckily for B.Aires, the ogre Alphonze wasn’t in his best day and wouldn’t help his teammates, while their own minotaur did wonders. What Tangueros’ fans can’t understand, tough, is why their ballcarrier wouldn’t march forward earlier. Coach Kalessin later declared that when they decided to go forward on turn 6, a third double skull prevented them from doing so and a triple one would “punch in the nuts” their aspirations the following turn. Alas, when they still attempted to pass the ball, but then Purrete messes with his own shoelaces and met the ground right in the endzone.

Koskun’s big bench allowed them to enter the field without being greatly outnumbered, even as four human players remained in the injury box. Defense went flanking even before the ball has landed, but a failed block secured the area for the humans, that run for the opposite side, hoping that the slow movement from two of their most powerful opponents would deter them a few turns. But B.Aires recovered their feet fast and moved to mark yet again. Humans changed flanks once more, but a 1d skull –the first of four to come– stopped their repositioning, leaving the new ballcarrier unprotected. Tangueros seized the chance, blitzed and stole the ball. Thereafter, knock outs came into the match, and humans suffered them the most, losing players to defend with each passing turn. Luck smiled on Tangueros, that sent Canaro to safety and kept every human out until the last second.

Next round Tangueros will try to secure the division against the necromantic Cordoba Fernets, while Immortals will have to face Alberta Bone Chillers while missing a catcher and two blitzers.

Saphery Poets X – X Slann Frogcisco 49ers
No poetry was performed this week, as Saphery failed to meet Slann Frogcisco in the field. No jumping, no passing, no scoring was enjoyable by the fans either. Match wasn’t played and NWFL decision board declared it a win for the 49ers, that now have left the last place of the division. Although they have no chance to get to play-offs, a good set of wins and some missteps by Koskun Falls Immortals might leave them in the second place of the AWC West.

Alberta Bone Chillers 1 – 3 Cordoba Fernets
Cordoba needed the win the most, as they struggle to get into the post season claiming a wild card spot. And they indeed got the win. Unfortunately for Western ReSports' readers, no record of it has endured. Some say it was Bone Chillers fans, frustrated at their beloved team’s performance, that attacked the network that broadcasted the match for the entire region. In any case, this newspaper has already filed a complaint against the NWFL for this attack on its rights to freedom of speech, clearly limited by these acts of vandalism.

With this win, Cordoba maintain chances to hit the play-offs in their very first season in the league, either by taking the first place from defending champion White Rock Midnight or qualifying as a wild card. Next round they’ll play against B.Aires Tangueros. Bone Chillers will try to regain their feet against Koskun Falls Immortals.

North West Walking Brawls X – X White Rock Midnight
Walking Brawls’ coach has been missing from North West training camps for a while. Word around the bloodbowl club is that he’s running away either from the law or from gamble debts. Unfortunately for his players, lack of training also lead to lack of organization in the administrative offices, that forgot to hire the bus that would take them to the stadium. Fans and opponents alike waited in vain, and tournament officials declared the match a win for defending champion White Rock Midnight.

Next round Walking Brawls should meet Saphery Poets, while White Rock will visit the marshes inhabited by Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

Out of division match-of-the-week
Crewe’s Railroaders 0 – 4 Joplin Disasters

“Now you’re just taking the piss”, yelled coach Valen to his colleague Sutherlands, from one bench area to the other. “Oh, no, I’m protecting the ball”, replied the former. At that point, his Disasters were anything but that and already had the match three touchdowns up. Meanwhile, human’s coach couldn’t do anything but lament the poor luck of his players and what little did his plans last.

Crewe started with the possession of what Valen would come to call “a ridiculous first half” (quickly followed by some “that sums up the game” and “that sums it up too” or “oh, come on now”, every one of them understandable. At first, things seemed ok for Railroaders, putting down all three opponent big guys, which in turn wouldn’t get up in the following turn. But then, an unexpected diving tackle from the skaven renegade left open a gap in their defense, which was quickly seized by dark elf renegade Versace. An archmagecame into play, zapping the marauder with the ball, but then the human blitzer tried to reach it, he tripped. After that, Joplin just moved, passed and scored to lead the board in an early turn 4. The renewed efforts by Crewe wouldn’t bear any fruits. Their intention to pass the ball forward to a marked player met an interception. Disasters quickly took advantage of the situation and run the field to seal the match in one half.

Things would just get worse in the second half for the humans, as they suffered more touchdowns and even some injuries. Even a desperate attempt at the ballcarrier was ill-fated as the ball bounced towards the nearest player: another Disaster. Indeed, the dark elf renegade would score again on turn 3. After a rock crushed his ogre’s neck (quickly fixed by an able apothecary), Valen knew he wouldn’t even have the chance to score. Not even once this match. A second later, his thrower would miss a pass, and then, the dialogue quoted at the start of this match report, the gobbling would slip by his opponents to send the ball to safety.

This result put Disasters in par with Titans in the AWC South division, but that equality would come to an end an hour later, when the argentinian team got the upper hand in a 3-0 match. So far, Titans appear as a strong candidate for winning the conference (even chances with also argentinian team B.Aires Tangueros and similar to those of Arizona Night Lizards) and Disasters are the strongest suitors for the first wild card spot there. Crewe, on the other hand, will have to win every possible point ahead and wait until Cordoba Fernets and Koskun Falls Immortals miss a step in the road.

I grabbed the ball with a goblin and then passed back 3 squares to someone who wasn't wide open to the opposing team. How is that not protecting the ball? >.>
