OBC Sports SR Rankings
Version 0.4.1 beta
Points table refresed.
Elimination format minors were nerfed again. This time, the top end.
Previous version yielded 105 points for the finalist of a 13–16 teams minor which is more than the 100 points yielded for the winner of a 7–8 teams minor. Ideally, both progression consist of three wins. I wanted to set points to make the winner of a smaller tournament get more points than someone with same progression in a bigger tournament.
The multipliers were set to make the winner points get tripled of a two size bigger tournament: 100 * sqrt(3) -> 170; 170 * sqrt(3) -> 300. This resulted 100, 170, and 300 points for winning level 1 minors of teams 7–8, 13–16, and 25–32 respectively.
There are other rules though. The ATP table has a multiplier schema of 0.6, 0.6, 0.5, 0.5, ... for determine finalist, semi-finalist, ... points. For example the Grand Slam scoring is 2000, 1200, 720, 360, 180, 90, 45, 10. Our point table has the same pattern. This pattern made the bigger tournament to yield more points for the same progression as a smaller one with the above winner point schema.
As I don't wanted to break the ATP pattern, the first rule (winner point schema) has to get modified. This let two options: Either to increase the points for the low-end tournaments (this would be a revert to the first version which was changed for good reason) or decrease the points of the high-end minors tournaments. I choose the second.
As a result, the current SR rankings yields only 250 points for a 25-32 size level 1 minor instead of 300, and 160 for a 13–16 size tourney instead of 170.
By designing the new table I decided to set points to fit better with the calculated values of ATP multipliers instead of forcing them to be multipliers of 5. Odd numbers appeared for lower rounds. This will result less ties. Note that major point numbers are still multipliers of 5. I applied the same for the qualifiers which resulted minor adjustments only on lower round points.
Full changelog HERE.
New table is HERE.
Remarks/Consequences:
Nerfing minors boosts majors. Still a good minor record is necessary to achieve a Top10 coach position.
The new system lets a wider circle of teams of low tier rosters to get the top team spot as this used to be almost impossible for non-XFL winners. For example the XFL runner-up Gastric Band has the top Ogre spot now.
Next report seems to keep Brainsaw in top position by 1 point only. Sorry cedric19, it was not intentional! |

OBC Sports SR Rankings
Version 0.4.2 beta
Issue caused by roster name changes (eg. Necromantic to Necromantic Horror) got fixed.
The SR menu stays permanent during SR related browsing. I believe this result a better user interface.
Wreckage helped to fix SR to work with Internet Explorer version 11 and above. Huge thanks! |

Rankings are still not updated due to a bug in Arch Linux Postgresql 9.5.4. Upgrading to 9.6 will probably solve the issue but that is not a trivial upgrade to make as the data has to get migrated. Please be patient, it will get resolved in 1-2 weeks. |

OBC Sports SR Rankings
New rankings are out since yesterday with the UI XIII results. Fortunately all went automated nicely without my attendance.
Coach Stonetroll got the Nr 2 position with the UI win. Bravo! He has some more free slots to get to the top. It would be the third time in his career.
Coach Cedric19 is not easy to outpace though. He won the RMIN TW1600 VII-1 which yields him a net 115 points from the next week. Congrats! He also have a pending 90 points in XFL XI HUMAN with Runestaff Runners so his points will likely grow even more soon.
By winning the UI XIII Uusiverikulho toppled the FC winner Marvin Tribute and became the new top team.
The mere participation and first round loss of Woodhead Wanderers was enough to remain in the top three ahead of the rival Wood Elf team Tales y los Forestales by only one single point.
* * * Did you know? PurpleChest is in Top 100 coaches for a consecutive 620 weeks now. |
