Hello, what is the reasoning behind the rule: "At least 3 men must be on the line of scrimmage at kickoff". Why not 5? why not 0? Any comments? |

Balance? More favours bash teams, less favours ballers.
When we were experimenting with BB7s we tried a few different variations of LOS. 0 is weird. |

Could be verisimilitude. At the time BB was designed, the vast majority of American football defensive lines were at least 3 men. |

And American Football has a rule that on Offense at least 7 men must be located somewhere along the LOS. 5 Interior Linemen and 2 Ends.
General Strategy dictates that Defenses want to keep those HUGE Interior Linemen off of their Linebackers and Defensive Backs in Run Blocking Plays. And the do this be using 3 or 4 Defensive Linemen trying to force a the Offensive Linemen to Double Team as many Defensive Linemen as possible. |
