The Deserted Isles Blood Bowl Leeg is a weekly league for New Zealand based coaches. Coaches from elsewhere able to commit to NZ prime time (7pm - 9pm nzt) are also welcome.

Season 19 has just kicked off what will be another great season, wizards and all.

Two divisions of 8 teams each. Weekly full round robin. Top 3 of each pool will progress to fight for the main prize - The Placeholder - in the "Tickling Playoffs". Next best 6 teams play in a straight knockout for the "Participation Plate" (for it's the taking part that counts). And the last 4 play for the "Wobbly Boot"

PM your opponents to organise your games. And post in this forum as much fluff as you like.

View from above - Season Preview from your unbiased incorruptible Commish

Disregarded Derelicts Division
Named after DIBBL's season 11 champs, and the oldest team to walk the Isles (2004!)

ImageBlackwater Glee Club (Foad)
TW 2280k. After slumming it in the Wobbly Boot for a few seasons, the Glee Club finally stepped up and showed why they were three time SWL champs. The only team to ever taste glory on both sides of the Tazman, they didn't fare so well at Waikikamukau. Fortunately their biggest threat (Scum) have developed a habit of choking in DIBBL and so the Glee Club are odds on favourites to win back to back titles. However, your Commish knows better, and this season they'll stumble.
Player to watch: An absolute monster, Andrew "Starships" Cornell reached the 100 cas milestone at Waikik. Surely that's enough, somebody put an end to the Mark.
Prediction: 1st in pool, beaten semifinalist

Image Da Sexy Buggerz (Felix17)
TW 2040k. Guard conquers all. Maybe not, but it certainly helps. The Buggerz fared well at Waikikamukau (beaten on tiebreaker) and will continue on to dominate many of the teams in DIBBL. Especially in this, the weaker pool. The playoffs will be a different story though, where Claw will be the orcs kryptonite.
Player to watch: This is very much a team team, but there is one player who stands a little above the others Zak Efrork S4 Blodger will be hard to take the ball from.
Prediction: 2nd in pool. Exit first round of play offs

ImageJank, Jank, Splat! (blackcaps)
TW 2040k+. Yet to go on a pre-season shopping spree, these wood elves are big. Damaged, but big. Coach blackcaps isn't afraid to command his troops into the suicidal BS plays, and this is the season where those plays will stick. The elves will hit a few stumbling blocks in pool play, but will hit their stride in the playoffs
Player to watch: Team top scorer, Don't hurt me escaped getting hurt last season, and will again be the one doing all the fancy plays.
Prediction: 3rd in pool. Beaten finalists.

ImageBonesfield Bakers (PlantingLemur)
TV 2130k. Solid grinding play will get them as far as fourth place this season, but unlike season's past they won't quite hit the top tier. With a bit of help from MVProids though, they might just see their first Legend
Player to watch: Massa Sovada is that Legend in waiting. He'll suffer another injury though, and missing one game may just mean he needs to wait until next season to be listed among the DIBBL greats.
Prediction: 4th in pool

Image Otago Spirit (tussock)
TW 2690k. The bloaty amazon experiment came close to success twice in DIBBL history. With two chocolate fish gobbled up, these girls really need to go on a diet if they're to finally taste victory. Fireballs will curse them this season.
Player to watch: Speedy Hollie Fraser won't make legend this season, but she'll persevere and survive, sadly something a lot of her team mates will fail to do.
Prediction: 5th in pool

ImageKobolds Bit My Baby (JPM)
TW 1490k. Rookie vamps can be hard work, but with a DIBBL entry TV of 1500k these guys aren't quite rookies. Blodge and pro makes them hard to shake, and 5 rerolls may stave off their hunger. While the bigger teams will handle them OK, the two lower down will struggle to beat them
Player to watch: Tabriz Blodge but not Pro (yet), why not? Ag+ of course.
Prediction: 6th in pool

ImagePriests of the Red Amaranth (Klazam)
TV 1730k. The Priests started the last season with a his and a roar topping the table after the early rounds. Then the new elf coach discovered why they're classed as paper. This season has started badly, but they'll do the odd elf thing and secure a berth a sniff above the bottom of the table.
Player to watch: Thrower Sinche Choque Huaccha Ag6! What a tosser.
Prediction: 7th in pool

ImageAt the Mercy of Chaos Dibbl (Trickey)
TV 1520k. Out of the blocks early with a win! Great start to the season. Why not tipped higher than last? Tradition.
Player to watch: The Mercy don't score too often, but when they do it's usually Albino Chipolta a very agile rat who crosses the line.
Prediction: Spoon

View from above - Season Preview from your unbiased incorruptible Commish

Tararuas Krox Division
Named after three time champ, the team with the horrible s4 skink

Image Dirty Rotten Filthy Scum (mushoomy)
TV 2150k. Fresh from a successful Waikikamukau campaign the Scum are back and ready to be the first Nurgle team to win DIBBL. Their coach has an 11 game unbeaten run against your dear Commish. This is unforgivable, there's only one way to get back at him. Tip his team for victory, and watch another choke.
Player to watch: Waikik star scorer Queens really is Filth. A +St +Ma blodge pestigor.
Prediction: 1st in pool, Champion

Image Karaz-a-Karak Krakens (bojoaph)
TW 2160. Bojo's dorfs get an easy start to a tough season. Those poor flings! There is enough claw in this division to really cause some pain, but the Krakens will hold it together long enough to make the top playoffs. Sadly for them that's as far as they'll get this season.
Player to watch: Die Die DIE! Orin Onyxheart
Prediction: 2nd in pool, exit first round of playoffs

ImageColor From Outer Space (Atari)
TV 2070k. A whopping 600k bigger than when they entered the Leeg last season, my have these frogs grown! Packing on weight in the form of Strength and Agility rolls they'll be hard to stop. A few will get squished, but they'll hop all the way to a Tickling semifinal.
Player to watch: Talented positionals may scoff at this pick, but linefrog Mi-Go is one to watch. +St +Ag and Block, it's a vampire with long legs!
Prediction: 3rd in pool, exit semifinal

ImageBack Alley Burglars (DustBunny)
TV 2200k+. Big OGRES get a big buff this season. Disposable limits the inducements they face, and they can get a 7th Ogre with a preseason shop. DustBunny's quest to have the biggest Ogre seen anywhere in FUMBBL continues and...
Player to watch: Chop on 411spp is only 22spp shy of claiming to be the biggest ever (from Ranked dude War 433spp). A very good chance of achieving the milestone this season. I expect the Runt Punter will be drip fed most of the MVPs so Chop'll have to do it the hard way.
Prediction: 4th

Image Deserted Isle Buccaneers (Happy_Amateur)
TV 1890k. The Buccaneers are still not quite big enough to really threaten, but they'll hurt a few. This really is a nasty conference. If they can hold it together and grow throught the season, they'll be real contenders in S20.
Player to watch: +Ag, +Ma, dodge, block, mighty blow Mash Kharnn won't use his newest skill much as others will spill more blood. He will get a lot of touchdowns though.
Prediction: 5th

ImagePink 'n Scabby (Sharper)
TW 2180k. They're just not the same without Eztletalpalli II the Ag4 skink. The Sauruseses will menace a few (flings mostly), but without even a star skink they're going to struggle.
Player to watch: One player who doesn't need agility is superstar saurus Itchnsaur, a good thing too with Ag of -1. Will push towards legendhood this season through sensless violence
Prediction: 6th

ImageHauraki Horrors (DDAmAge112)
TW 1940k. A great end to the regular season the Horrors snaffled the Shield. And they got a Legend Mummy, and another one very close. This season will be a tough one. Claws and guard abound and they'll be vulnerable to all the encounters with true bash. Unlikely to hold the Shield for very long.
Player to watch: Mini-mummy Lumbering Lake should really be sacked. But he's soooo close. He'll be retained for sentimental reasons and a single MVP will confirm him as one of the greats.
Prediction: 7th in pool

ImageTanuki Terrors (ramchop)
TV 1500k. Poor poor flings. This pool is brutal and dorfs to kick off with. The first winless season for the dear Commish coming up.
Player to watch: Three Ag4 flings to choose from, but superstar Fauru though niggled is the one to watch. Blink and you might miss him though, in this pool he might not last long.
Prediction: Spoon
Trickey

So Chalky You think the match between At the Mercy of Chaos and the Black water Glee club is pivotal!

Damn straight it is, and The Mercy stand no chance. Even with Yugio's spot on call for them to eat their coach post season they do not stand a chance. The Glee club are winners and they have proven that time and again. The only way out of this one for the Mercy is through the Morgue and I will be the first to be laughing at the funeral.

Just a heads up in relation to the first “NAF Live” that is taking place next weekend (28th & 29th).

Letting all the DIBBLers know that there will be a dedicated Oceania section run off Melb/Syd time and the first tournament next week will be a good measure as to if we can look at getting something in place to cover us leading up to Wyrdstone.

It would be great to get some numbers and test the viability of a real time online tournament.

The ruleset being used is from the Dungeonbowl tournament in Germany that was supposed to be on this weekend and can be found at https://dungeonbowl.de/?site=rules .
To summarise, it’s a 1,100k TV resurrection tournament over 2 days, with games at 12:00 noon, 2:30pm and 4:30pm (NZ time) each day with a skill package that is split into 3 tiers.

Tier #1 - Amazon, Brets, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Lizardman, Norse, Orc, Skaven, Undead, Wood Elf
Tier #2 - Chaos, Chaos Pact, Elf, High Elf, Human, Khemri, Khorne, Necromantic, Nurgle, Slann
Tier #3 - Halfling, Goblin, Ogre, Underworld, Vampire

The skill package on offer looks like so.
Tier 1
Day 1 - 3 Normal Skills
Day 2 - 3 Normal Skills
---------
Tier 2
Day 1 - 4 Normal Skills
Day 2 - 1 Double Skill
---------
Tier 3
Day 1 - 3 Normal Skills
Day 2 - 2 Double Skills
(Max 1 skill per player)

1). Create your team.
On the NAF Live page for Oceania, in the “Overview” section (https://fumbbl.com/p/group?op=view&group=12474) there’s a link to create your team (https://fumbbl.com/p/createteam?op=race&league=12474). Put you NAF number in the team bio. If you want to take any stars, put a note here as well.

2). Add your skills.
On your team page, click “Team Options”. There are 2 options here, “Team Settings” and “Skill Settings”. In “Skill Settings” you can add your skills to your players.

3). Join the tournament.
On the NAF Live page for Oceania, there is a “Teams” section (https://fumbbl.com/p/group?op=view&group=12474&p=teams). There’s a Select Team drop down where you can apply to the tournament.

4). Be ready to play on Saturday at 12 noon! Yep, it’s that easy.

That said if you’ve got any questions, feel free to ask me here, or on Discord – I’m happy to help.

Cheers,
Dan
