Just a general question really, maybe something for the future, hoping to keep this ontopic too! but:
Whats the primary factor when deciding to buy a mini for BB (not necessarily GW minis, eg Heresy, Reaper etc)
Feel free to discuss
Also, what would you like to see with regards new minis?
new sculpts of teams,
new teams, like slaan
single figures, like Big guys like Beasts, RO's, or a Snow Troll (for Vault Norse)
Coaching Staff
Do you buy minis based on:
how good the sculpt is
how much they cost
do they fit in with your roster |

personally, the way a model looks(finished product, not post-mold) is my biggest thing.....
i've always loved citadel minis, but ever since i first saw the Confrontation minis a few years ago, i feel in love hardcore over them....those are what miniatures are supposed to look like....the intense detail and craftsmanship that goes into them is ridiculous

I've been using Rackham's Confrontation minis. It's an awesome game but I love the sculpts even more. ^^
GW minis are not only more expensive around where I live (some are even made of plastic - WTF?!), but most of them also look plain horrible in comparison. |

I pick my minis soley based on appearance. My tastes can be odd though.
This is my most recent paintjob, and while I *love* the sculpt most other people really dislike it.
For the most part I tend to buy Reaper & GW. GW is simple, I've started an Ogre Kingdoms army and am totally impressed by the quality of the plastics. Mainly I just want to win painting contests and GW are the only local ones.
Reaper I pick and choose from depending on the sculptor. Reaper quality is always good and they have godlike customer service skills.
For the most part I think Rackham produces pure shite. Barbie has more realistic proportions than those miniatures and I really hate "slender" minis that are all elf inspired and such. Some Rackham sculpts are interesting but for the most part the people who blow about them are just followers with a herd mentality (no offence to previous posters). EDIT - and besides whoever owns the copyright for the garbage pail kids should be able to sue them over those incredibly dumb looking Mid-Noir dwarves.
I like the look of privateer press minis but tbh their quality sucks, but they have great customer service and will send you a missing bit through fed-ex (or other courier) in about 2-3 days.
I would kill to have the Foundry Pirate Orcs... but god the prices!
RAFM, RP, Darkage, all suck by todays standards.
Havn't tried most of the online only guys and havn't bought anything for bloodbowl in years. |

Price is the issue. The reason I never stuck with Fantasy battles, why I had to (with Pain) ignore LOTR, why Bloodbowl and Necromunda were my main GW hobbies, and why I cried when HeroClix outlawed the use of first set figures in Tourneys. |

Oh cmon BP...you can't even tell me that this isn't sexy....
Admittedly a lot of their models do have the more slimline, sleek proportions to them, but for me, the pure vibrance, and personality of every mini is what blows me away....whereas with other games you have one or two, maybe 3 or 4, "focal point" visually....with the confrontation squads, every mini is a standout piece...
you just can't get that with citadel minis

Sorry m8, to me both those models look like japornimation inspired trash.
Rackham has done a good job pimping its minis with a goddess of painting. She rocks. Rackham minis blow. It is a style issue only, as Rackham quality lives up to a reasonable standard (at least on newer stuff) but from a visual perspective the minis look cartoony and cheese fueled. GW and Reaper also make some crap models, but at least those companies provide a wide variety of styles to choose from. Rackham only has one style and its not one I like. |
