Today, I realised what it must feel like to live in a dictatorship.
Well, many people saw the oooh so dangerous word in the title of my last word that is an english slang word for "inconsiderate person". I got a small warning yestorday night that I didn't see "Oh and change the title of this blog."

Then I got a temp bann while the admins were afk. When I finally got in contact I tried to show that in their OWN rules there was nothing that said I couldn't use a slang word or a word that can be used as a swearword but wasn't this time in my blogg post. Well, the admin ran away from the conversation and started warning me and gave me a "last warning".

So if we look at the rules about language.

Personal attacks and excessive abusive language is not accepted. Discussing other people's styles of play does not qualify as personal attacks.
Offensive language - including but not limited to racism, sexual harassment and religious persecution - is not allowed in any form.

Where does the word I used that is a slang for inconsiderate person come into play?

It wasn't a personal attack, maybe a personal attack against myself but I don't think that is something the admins care about.

So, the offensive language section then... is it racism then? no, Racism would be: I think all blacks are inconsiderate persons. (Which I dont, I am making a example)

Is it sexual harrasment? No, for it to be that I would have to replace the word black above with the word girls, guys or transvestites.

Is it religious persecution? No, it's not for the same reasons as above. And as a note for everyone. I dont care about religion and I will let anyone and everyone belive in whatever god, spirit or whatever in whatevere way you want to and still respect you. I live in Sweden and have done my military duty with muslims, catholics and protestans. I will respect anyone who is willing to give up their personal safety for others.

So what can this come under? Well it can be under the "including but not limited to" part. But so can everything else. Following that rule any individual admin can follow bann anyone using 1 out of a 100 words in the english language.

To give context: I took a "" yestorday when I came up with this great idea!
2: I love all "" people. They just look so cuddly.
3: I can't bother to come up with another example now I am just tired as "".

Comming up with new rules as they feel like it is something dictators do. It is not something fumbbl admins should do, and not something blood bowlers should let go without taking a stance. "" power!

PS. I respect and thank all the admins for you'r great work here on fumbbl, dosen't mean you can't be "" sometimes. We all can be.

I'm not exactly one to always defend the admins, but I thought it was pretty obvious the term you used was offensive language. Seems like a pretty pointless rant to me.

This is a dictatorship, get used to it.

What may not be offensive to you may be offensive to others. There have been plenty of other cases in the past where one coach created a team which was not offensive to him but was to others due to personal experience etc. Best to learn from what has happened on this occasion and move on, making blogs like this is only going to exasperate the situation and annoy the admins.

Did you know that the blog titles appear on the front page of the site in nice big red letters?

Mrs K raised an eyebrow when she saw it.

Maybe the admins didn't want people to think that Fumbbl was generally a site full of [censored]s.

Now I doubt that the word really needs to censored outside of the blog title but as the mods/admins cannot edit blog responses best not take chances. ;)

your were advised by at least one reply to remove it

you didn't

so you got temp banned til you did

= seems fair enough to me

now you are whining about it in public

= does not seem fair to me and I hope you get banned again until you remove this whiney blog

Obviously you are not experienced enough yet on this sight to know where the lines are on personal conduct. Need to work on that some more.

Emo gets you no where around here man.

Two quick responses:

1. We don't disallow "whiney blogs". The staff doesn't censor people who dislike them. As long as they keep within the bounds of what's allowed, there's no problem.

2. We don't permaban people who complain like this. As the other comments to this blog implies, these types of posts have a tendency to reflect more on the poster than the staff. It's more likely that the coach him/herself deletes these based on the feedback.

And a quick reflection of my own:

The rules of FUMBBL are my responsibility. I run the site the way I feel is best, and implement the rules I want to have. I've stated in the past that this isn't a democracy. If you want a political equivalent of the system used here, it's more of a benevolent despotism. I do talk to the staff about things every now and again, and they do have power to make calls on their own. The bottom line, however, is that I am ultimately responsible for all staff decisions made and the policies that are in place. When it comes to making/changing/clarifying, the staff act more like advisors to me.

Anyway, this response is far longer than I intended. If someone wants me to elaborate on this, I can post a blog entry of my own on request.

To be fair being Swedish and looking up the meaning of the word is not the same as living in England and knowing the meaning of the word. It is a bit strong for a family friendly site.

Yes yes I can see it now. Forcing you to clean up language in a blog is horrible dictatorship! Call Amnesty! This is more important than people being tortured, living under constant fear of death and violence, having no right to vote, or rights at all.

And now you, you of all people living in the world, you know what it feels like. I am so so sorry for you. Nobody should ever face the cruel dictatorship like this. How DARE they tell YOU what to write on a service you get for free?

I will personally take this as a crusade. I go revolt in the streets holding "Free Gotte" signs and go on hunger strike! Don't worry, stay strong! World will unite and free you like the people in Africa or Middle-east, you are just another victim of centuries old dictatorship claiming millions of deaths.

I admire your bravery of taking a stand for yourself! You are like modern age Jean d'Arc and before you know it, they will build statues of you.

P.S. You should totally write a book about this and make a fortune! And movie rights too!

I'm not offended by the word you used but excessive could certainly be applied to the use as it was very prominent due to being in the title and on the front page of the website.

Bear in mind also that "inconsiderate person" is the meaning without context. If you called your mother one would she be more unhappy with the word you used or "inconsiderate person"? the first is an insult, the second is a description. Slang terms are generally insults sadly so best to avoid. :)
