Ridiculous cup-game
Had my first cup game as a huge underdog (playing 660 TV down with norse vs. orcs). Would've been a no-brainer in lrb4, but CRP inducements, mainly wizard and babes (and quite a bit of luck) saved the day.

It just feels stupid if a team at 1460TV can compete in fumbbl cup which is supposed to be a tournament to resolve the best team in fumbbl.

why does it feel stupid?

that was the whole point of inducements, and shows that they are doing their job

I would whine more, maybe that would fix things.

and the FC is also about the best coach, so for me - seeing inducements even things up is great - it means that the cup is not just for people who can play 50 prep games to pimp a team, but also for "normal" fumbbl players.

I see it as a hunt for the best coach, not the best team.

Any fool can play 30 games and build a killer team. It takes coaching skill to win.

I'm not whining about it (since I was the one who got the inducements :D I'm just wondering if inducements, especially wizard have a bit too large impact on game. I mean you can basically stop almost any team from scoring in their drive.

Leveling the playing field between teams is actually one of the good things about CRaP. Makes it possible for all to enter and makes for more exciting games and all so makes the cup a little less about who had the best draw team wise any how.

It was a great game! I was screaming at the screen. :)

I didn't realise the FC was about the best team or the best coach. I thought it is was about having the most fun. ;)

And it's living up to that. It's great that replays are working. Just in time too.

And the wizard doesn't really guarantee anything. I've seen it fizzle numerous times and you get a lot of stuff for any team with 150k of TV. I also remember a game against Joemanji. His positioning and set up of a cage against my wizard was a thing of beauty. I was admiring and gnashing my teeth over not getting a shot at stealing the ball at the same time.

i, for a change, agree with Koadah!

Fun FTW

Rated 6, I can see the OPs point. Not sure if I agree or disagree though.

FC is about:

1.) Fun. See most diffrent teams clash, see firebals fly and Morg stomping on the pitch.

2.) Good coaches

3.) Luck

4.) Strong teams

And i am not shure if position 2 or 3 has more weight. If two good coaches compete its mainly luck.

well it can go only two ways at this point.

1)You get destroyed in your next match. Half your team is in the morgue and you have no chance.

or

2) Your next match you get a butt load of inducements and "luck" your way throught the next round.

There will be no more middle ground for your team.

I also made my way to the second round through a 600 TV deficit.
The inducements and nuffle helped but at the end of the game, I had the feeling that the best team won.
The inducements were not that efficient but being the underdog and having the favor of the crowd were just as good as a fireball ;)

Personally, I believe in the earlier calculations, which confirmed the thesis of Galak that the winratios don't exceed 2:1. If the win ratio will exceed that, the TV difference is so vast, that such differences are rarely seen in normal games.

Indeed, due to recent developments on site, if you have feeling that some inducements are too powerful, you can "rosterize" them by picking up by the inducement price.

Good Luck & Have Fun!

And look at real sports -- sometimes the team with the biggest payroll doesn't win. They definitely have an advantage, but if the underdogs have a good team and play smartly, they're right back in it. And if the big team overpays mediocre players, they might be quite bad indeed.

I agree with ahalfling here :) And in a very open way I will brag about my local football team here in sweden, Gefle IF. They got a very little money in comparison to most of the teams in Allsvenskan. A quarter of what some got. And they almost dropped out of the league last year.

I think the saving goal was scored in overtime. But still. This year they were up there fighting at the top and spend a long time at the spots 2-6, fighting and beating these richy rich teams again and again. They were 1 of 3 teams to beat this year's champion team.

They sadly ended up on the 9th spot in the end thanks to a bad streak :(. But still they showed that the ability to play as a TEAM is just as important as having the best players. And I love them for that.

/end of obvious brag post ;)
