Never Underestimate Rookie Luck
How many times has it happened? Some rookie coach, not knowing about tackle zones, dodges into three tacklezones and does a 1d block against my blodge/SS/dauntless gutter runner/wardanger... and it's a pow!

I've seen zombies do four dodges through tackle zones. I've seen human linemen dodge into multiple tackle zones, pick up the ball, and dodge back out again.

Last night, I played a team that had won 2 out of 26 games. I think the team's record was 2/2/22. Did he have bad skills? No, his team was built well. Did he go out of his way to foul and forget the ball? Nope. He fouled once in a tactical situation. I never had the chance to reciprocate.

I was playing my skaven, having lost only twice in about 15 games. However, when the final whistle sounded, I was resoundly beaten, 2-0, and could easily have been 3-0. Was this rookie luck?

No. The coach had just learned enough to first pick my skaven over all the other teams. Second, he knew who to go after and how to get them out when they were left alone. Third, he was extremely lucky, but I don't call this rookie luck. I mean, the guy has lost 22 out of 26 games with this team. I looked on his coach page afterwards. He had won about 9 games and lost over 100. I can only surmise that after losing so much, you are entitled to a great game, and he got one. Something like 5 casualties inflicted, got 6 spp with his rookie catcher (comp, TD, INT)...

My congratulations to the coach that beat me, CoachWheeler. I really like my skaven team, and it surprises me that I wasn't so upset last night. Maybe it was because, finally, the little guy was getting the better of the big fish.

How many times have any of us looked at a CR or team record like that and figure it will be a walk in the park? How many times have we searched through the gamefinder for someone we thought we could beat, and then we did, usually at a 3-0 or 4-0 clip? We pad our stats on these unfortunate coaches and some of them get so fed up with how FUMBBL works that they leave, and the community loses a precious resource... a coach. Whether new or not, without new additions, all that remains are the experienced coaches before they fade away...

So, CoachWheeler, you beat me. You beat me good, and I congratulate you. I went to bed last night a bit stunned, but I wasn't angry. When I woke up, realization set in. I am now a CoachWheeler fan. The guy has gone through I don't know how many vicious games from cherrypickers, and he and his team took their frustrations out on me. The little guy finally stood up and said he wasn't going to take it anymore.

You've earned a fan today, CoachWheeler.
