Haven't gotten a chance to play my elves for a couple weeks, but the players made up for my coaching laziness by outbashing (?) some dwarves. Pro Elves are at their defensive best when they can use their speed to apply pressure in the backfield and 3 blitz KO results really made this game a lopsided affair.

1st half:

Received to start the game. Set up to go right and got a single catcher into the open field. Dwarves pursued. Had a pass/handoff/blitz/dodge play possibility, but that seemed like just a too few many rolls to open the game. Decided to reverse field and sweep back left. The +str troll slayer kept blitzing down my blitzer to mark the ballcarrier only to be repeatedly knocked away by Garibaldi - the final time for a BH. 1-0.

Following KO is 1st blitz result. Garibaldi manages to mark the ball but the ag4 runner scoops is out from under him and chucks it to an open blitzer. Elves form a screen in front of the dwarves and gum up the works until the half runs out.

2nd half:

2nd blitz KO result with the elves kicking short allows the elves to screen and field the kick. Ag4 dwarven runner stuns himself on a gfi trying to get in front of the play. Garibaldi hands it off to Aguinaldo who makes 1 gfi for the score. 2-0.

3rd blitz KO result allows Garibaldi to run under the ball again and field the kick again. This time, the str4 dwarven runner blitzes him down. Both teams scrum around the ball until a dwarf gets blocked onto it and it squirts through several hands and into the open field. Bose scoops it up and throws to a waiting Ataturk in the endzone. 3-0.

8 Dwarves are left to receive the final kickoff. Runner grabs the ball and throws it up to a lineman who drops the catch. Elves work the ball free and hand it to John Adams who runs behind a screen until he eventually scores on turn 8. 4-0.

Chuckle moment: Well, had to be the 3 consecutive blitzes...just not very funny from my opponents perspective.

Post Game:

Garibaldi scored a cas which placed him into the land of super stars and of course he finally failed an aging roll. Fortunately, it was a -str and not a niggle which doesn't hurt him so badly since he already has dauntless.

Elves have saved up and now own a 5th reroll. I'm not sure this team will need a sixth...

Advice:

My opponent wanted me to offer advice after the game. I'm not very skilled at playing dwarves, but against faster teams like mine I might want to keep more men in the backfield (not that it really mattered with 3 blitzes, but in a non-broken game). 6 guys on the line can easily 2-die away my 3 defensive linemen and 5 guys in the backfield can form a "proto" cage and safely get the ball upfield - that's the way I play my oh-so-slow halflings. Might also cut down on the need for so many gfi's.

That's all i got...
