SWL Season 14: Premier Game 7

The final game for Season 14 started with some pretty intense doom & gloom for the Skaven, and a rare error from Manfred von Richtofen. The rats managed to recover though, with Manfred cleaning up his mistake, firing a pass to Carl Jung, who evaded a would-be tackler, and ran away for the opening touchdown. The Orcs replied with a well structured offense play that managed to survive the best efforts Germany could muster, and scored just before half-time.
The second period saw more tight offense from the Orcs, more German harrasment, before the the Orcs decided they were happy to at least get a draw, and maybe a win, as they took a -21 lead late in the game. They seemed to be almost relying on Nuffle alone to stop Manfred firing to Bruce Willis, who ran in for a touchdown, his 4th for the season. The dying stages were almost academic, aside from a celebratory foul from Albert Speer at the request of a blood-thirsty crowd. As the Orc Medic prevented permanent harm, the full time whistle blew. While only getting a 2-2 draw today, their real, ultimate goal had been achieved. After 63 games, and 45 players, Germany were SWL champions!

Twahnlow Votes
3 votes- #7 Da Flinga: Handled the ball great, was hard to get a handle on, really ran the floor with authority.
2 votes- #13 Back Breaka: Worked hard, Back Breaka scored a td, and will grow into an annoyance, if she can survive..
1 vote- #1 Neck Krusha: Another workhorse, didn't get much reward, but wont be forgotten in the Twahnlows. It doesn't have to be pretty, to be effective.

SWL Season XIV - Premier League - Round 7

First Half - There was a little sleight of hand involved (palmed coin), but we won the toss, and a rather confused Neck Krusha decided that we wanted to kick - too much coffee for her own good (buzzing). It turned out quite well in the end, with Doom and Gloom setting in hard on the Vermin (we don't know why - they are guaranteed to come out in first place this season). Even Manfred struggled, slipping over trying to get away from a bouncing Neck Krusha loaded with caffiene who was bearing down on him fast! Eventually though, they got over the initial hurdles, and brought in a touchdown in turn 4 (0-1).

The vermin kicked short, hoping to take the girls off guard with a Blitz, and blitz they did - moving just a little too quickly for their own good, it was only after catching the girls off guard that they realised Colonel Klink forgot to kick the ball, and the referee handed it to our rookie throwe, Da Flinga. Some confusion arose among the orcs, with several players arguing over qhose turn it was to hit a rat - thanks to their tom-foolery, a very fortunate Matt Tinsen stayed on the field.... In the end, it was not so important, when the vermin made a little mistake leaving a gap for Back breaka to sneak through a touchdown just before half time (Half time score: 1-1).

With Colonel Klink still off the field, the Vermin had no idea what to do with the ball, and another terrible kick was handed to veteran linewoman 'Rib Smasha'. Forming a "beautiful cage", we started trundling down the field, only to find Otto von Bismark right in the middle of it. Now, I'm no expert, but I reckon an german rat ogre is the last thing you want in the middle of a cage... I guess the girls agreed, and with some desperate moves, Neck Krusha (still on a high from all that coffee) was able to shove him right out of the way (2x 2d against blocks). At this point, we were just glad to have made it so far, and thought that it was time to take the ball in for a touchdown (2-1)

With 3 turns left to score in, the vermin had no trouble making the equaliser - a classic play, with a pass to Bruce Willis, and a couple of ratty GFIs for a nice easy 2-turner - re-rolls to spare (Final score: 2-2)

------------------- Twahnlow Votes -------------------
3 pts - #1 Otto con Bismarck
Now, some might argue with this vote, but it's rare to see a big guy do his job so well. Otto made several key blocks and blitzes, putting himself in harms way to tie up players, position himself to provide assists. It was only when he did what big guys do best (block - push/push, powskull/skull) that he let the rest of the team down. All in all though, a great effort from the big rat, and one which forced us into some truly risky moves.

2 pts - #7 Ferdinand Porsche
Well, for starters, I hate gutter runners. They are always a pain, and this fellow was no exception. Though he didn't even show up on the stats board, he played a very important role for the vermin. Popping up in all the worst places, side-stepping and staying on his feet (for the most part) - with diving tackle, we couldn't even step away from him if we needed to. The top 5 things I hate about Ferdinand:
1. he's a gutter runner ... and I hate gutter runners
2. he's got blodge and sidestep
3. he's a gutter runner
4. he even has diving tackle
5. did I mention I hate gutter runners?

1 pt - #10 Matt Tinsen
He may not really have done his job that well - just 1 cas and 1 KO from his 13 blocks, but the little bugger distracted us just when we were SUPPOSED to be sending him surfing. Damn sneaky rat - he's nearly as bad as those gutter runners...
