“When faced with a clearly superior opponent, counted in TR/TS/CS wise a coach and team really needs to work together to bring that extra effort and skill necessary for a brilliant play. We did neither but managed to pull the play of the year anyway!
We started on offence and after proceeding in an orderly fashion with the drive we failed to receive the winning pass with our bull and thus the game turned into a heated fight for the ball. It ended after a massive amount of early crucial TO from both sides in the best possible way – with a T8 TD. During his “Killing Time”- Turn 8 he managed to BH Charles Baudelaire and SI Avril Lavigne. And the rest of the game pretty much was his from T1 to T8. He clearly went for a stalled T8 TD while inflicting as much injury on my team as possible for a humiliation during OT.
With four BHed dwarves and one SIed Troll at the start of OT I didn’t have much muscle left on the team – facing a undented superior Dwarf team. It would turn out that the humiliation would come to the dwarves after trying the same delayed 8T TD during OT. With 3 turns left of the game and the impending doom written in stone for the Dandies the impossible happens.
Aubrey Beardsley manages to dodge free from his harassers and with two GFIs manage to down the dwarf ball carrier with a single dice block. The ball scatters favorably into an open square and Djuna Barnes makes the play of her career (as it turns out she would retire in an imminent future). Making two dodges though her opponents tackle zone to reach the ball and succeeding in securing the ball. She makes the single GFI necessary to put herself within range for a long bomb to the only player on the field able to catch the ball (or succeeding on anything else on a ‘6’). The ball is good, the interception not even close and the ball goes like glued into the hands of Romaine Brooks. A normal move later she is out of range from the dwarves. After that it is we that with a few well placed blitzes that can stall for a 8th turn TD.
A game won with luck – definitely. But it was hard won and we did do our best to put up a fight even though we were horribly out-numbered and out-muscled. Thx for a great game, it was fun even before the turn of luck.

PS. Djuna Barnes got crowd-pushed for a niggling injury while we were stalling for the win - talking about a team sacrifice.
