Well summarised by MadTias, which is why I won’t write much more about the game in detail.

I think MadTias had a lot more bad luck in important situations – like the fireball or the throw in after Morg’N Thorg sacked my ball carrier.
Furthermore I think the whole game was played on a very high level. At least from my point of view, so this isn’t meant cocky. However I don’t think, that I didn’t make any mistakes like MadTias wrote, although it honours me that a good coach thinks so. I made at least one huge mistake when I mixed up my two throwers and therefore had to change plans after moving half of my team already.

And I don’t have any hard feelings about that foul. I can partly even understand you and hope to see you in the next major(s) too… was a huge fan of Glitz Gitz in the last Warpstone Open ;)

GLT 2006 Qualifier Final.

Man, usually I don't take losses very hard, but this one really got to me. I could have won this game, dammit! I think I made one more mistake than JB, who made none, and that was enough. Frrrrrkkkkk.

Both teams brought a Weirdboy, and da Rippas also brought Morg, with the express mission to blitz da Boyz' ST4 Throwers whenever able to. Handicaps for da Rippas were Iron Man (Rasch) and Illegal Drugs (Kumag).

Da Boyz received first, but made little headway against the compact Rippas defense. Come Rippas turn 6, da Boyz' cage looks weak and coach MadTias sees an opportunity for the Weirdboy...

"Fireball?", the Weirdboy mumbles to himself. "Now how'd dat spell go?". "Pr'aps it's dis one?" POOF! The Weirdboy turns himself into a frog while the Boyz' players stand unharmed. DISAPPOINTED! Had the cage opened, there were several Rippas players available to pop the ball, pick it up and throw it to a receiver that could have moved within range of da Boyz' end zone.

"Ah well, can't win them all", thinks coach Madtias and proceeds to pressure the cage, making da Boyz' Thrower Mork run free of the cage to be able to reach the end zone in time. Morg'n'Thorg does his job and brings him down, but the resulting throw-in lands within range of Boyz' agile Blitzer Morglum, who needs to dodge, pick up and do two gfi to score. Rippas' star Black Orc Kumag sees the danger, breaks free of his markers and moves in the way, but to no use. Da Boyz' get Kumag down on a 1d blitz and Morglum makes his rolls for the score.

Da Rippas have a chance for a TTM OTS with Morg on the field, and set up accordingly. But the kick-off lands where it can't be reached and that's that. 1-0 at half-time.

Da Rippas start a strong drive down the right flank in the second half. Trying to minimize the effect of a possible fireball, they set up a loose cage that can be exploited. Da Boyz' are quick to do so and pop the ball, but without being able to pick it up. Da Rippas strike back with full force and get the upper hand in the scramble for the ball. Rippas' agile Blitzer Gulok emerges with the ball and Da Rippas make a quick shift for the other side of the field, leaving many Boyz' players stranded out of reach...

...BUT two Boyz' players can dodge to reach Gulok and bring him down, leaving the ball loose again. Da Rippas recover it again, now in the hands of Thrower Rasch, who makes a gfi without RR to minimize the potential effect of a fireball, (and here comes the mistake, I think) BUT makes it in the wrong direction. Had he gone the other way, he would have been 6 squares from the sideline, avoiding a lightning bolt too. The reason I did not move him there was that it would have brought him into contact with a Boyz' player. Allowing a block had been better, with hindsight.

Sure enough, the lightning bolt brings Rasch down, da Boyz' uber Thrower Mork picks it up and throws it far, far away, securing the win for da Boyz. Coach MadTias is so aggravated by this that he cannot refrain from blitzing Mork and T15-fouling him for a MNM. Sorry about that, JB, but guess you had plans to play some easy games and collect some money before the main event anyway.

Great game JB, you played it really well and made no mistakes. I'll get over this loss and be back for the next major (I hope). Good luck in the main event, hope you go all the way.
