“Orca-Cola Cup Series Reikland Rookie Cup final

This was an amazingly intense struggle of a game. One of the best games I ve played in ever.

Melmoth came in with a very deep roster while I had been able to accumulate quite a few more skills than him.

I kicked to start and tried to play a solid spread defense that I could react to any amazon push, knowing my skill players' speed would help.

A very shallow kick forced Melmouth to shift to the left and then he made an offensive push to the right. The advance was stymied by undead bodies and the Maidens re-grouped around midfield. The flesh golem did a great job being a roadblock, occupying several Maidens.

A zombie blitz from the ground resulted in a both down ball pop that landed in the hands of werewolf, Regan. Seconds after catching the ball, Regan was blitzed and KOd. However it was turn 7 and the Maiden Songs scrambled to get bodies into scoring position. The Dead took care of all potential scorers save one, and Melmoth nearly pulled off a great play to score... alas a failed dodge thru a TZ ended the threat.

I received in the 2nd half and attempted to do some damage while holding the ball in the backfield. After a couple turns of mutual beatings a ghoul moved into a loose cage, only to be blasted by a wizard s fireball.

The amazons were able to scoop the ball up and move down the sideline. Quickly recovering, a ghoul blitz popped the ball and once more Reagan was there to catch the bouncing ball. A die down block followed by a 1D block was able to KO Reagan (again) and get the ball back in Amazon hands. Another ghoul blitz failed to pop the ball and the Maiden Songs attempted to push down field and get off the sidelines. Yet another ghoul blitzed worked this time, with ball ending up in the ghoul s hands. A Zon blitz put the ball back on the turf, but the Maiden Songs were unable to convert on their last scoring chance-- a pick-up and pass to the end zone.

So we went to Overtime with the Maiden Songs receiving. The Maidens attempted a push down the right sideline, however a fallen zombie blitzed the ball from within the cage and managed the 1D Pow on the blodging ball carrier. The ball went into the crowd and the was tossed in around midfield.

Flesh golem, Andre the Giant, had a chance to free the ball of TZs with a blitz but double skulled instead, ruining a great break-away chance. However the zons failed their first dodge on the subsequent turn, giving the Dead another shot. A few blocks and a failed ghoul pick-up later... the ball bounces to Andre with a very surprised look on his face!

Andre bliitzed his way to freedom and was off to the races... very very slow races that is. Rumbling downfield at flesh golem pace with ghouls and a wolf escort the Maidens were unable to deter him and on turn 8 of OT Andre stepped across the goal!

An incredible finish to an amazingly close game. Very hard fought! Worth a replay for those who may be interested.
