Game 7, Season XVIII and the last game for the Duskriders.

Vilecurse Ranklow and Duskwind were engaged in premature end-of-season celebrations and wouldn't have made the game except for a rather abrupt intervention by the apothecary. Even then he couldn't rouse Vilecurse from his stupor.

As a last hurrah, the Duskriders might have preferred to go out on a different note but not to be. Typical Ork game - hard to know them over and when we did, we struggled to make it count.

Twhanlows

3 Points . Loony Tossa. Too bad she's not an elf otherwise she'd be awesome but she did a passable imitation of Duskwind anyway :)
2 Points. Da Flinga. A long way off the pace in comparison to Loony Tossa, but credit for the TD.
1 Point. Back Breaka. If blodging tacklers aren't painful enough for elves to deal with, making them stronger certainly doesn't help!

Grats on the second place finish Laviak. Better luck for going one better in Season 19!

SWL Season XVIII - Premier League - Round 7

Knowing that the title was out of range, the girls didn't seem very motivated to do much of anything this match. Even though it was a farewell match for the duskriders, the motivation just wasn't there. In fact, the apothecary had to coax Duskwind Strongarm (the self-proclaimed "best thrower in the SWL") onto the field!

The duskriders won the toss, and elected to receive. We put up a bit of a fight, but eventually let Sharpblade through for a touchdown in turn 4. With 4 turns to score, and a horrible kick giving us a touchback, it should have been easy. And if it weren't for some poor positioning, we probably would have been able to make the touchdown. As it was, the TD came close, but the weather proved too much for Knee Snappa, who landed face first in the endzone with the ball in turn 8.

The second half saw another half-hearted offence. Allowing themselves to get tangled up, the orks were in quite a bind. In fact, it took some effort from the elves to get the ball out of the muddled frenzy in the middle of the pitch, and out to Sharpblade again. This time, however, we managed to chase him down. And instead of messing up the touchdown, Loony Tossa got the ball to Da Flinga, who stumbled across the line for a touchdown in turn 8.

The elves played well in a game that could have gone either way. They probably deserve the win, but today, it wasn't to be.

------------------- Twahnlow Votes -------------------
3 pts - #9 Twilight Deathmoth
2 pts - #3 Eversharp Lackhue
1 pt - #7 Blackshade Fogdrifter II

Rather than the individual comments, I'll comment on these guys as a group - notice anything similar about them? With block, dodge, side-step and tackle, this team was pretty much all the elves needed on defence. With some clever work by their thrower to extract the ball, everything else came down to these 3 nasty pieces of work. I didn't even manage to remove any of them from the pitch. Basically, if these 3 players hadn't been there, it would have been a walk in the park for the zons. A fine effort indeed.

Of particular mention is Twilight Deathmoth. His blitz on the ball carrier was the critical move in the prevention of our attempt at a first half equaliser.
