“The last time the WDDs played against this coach it was their debut in the SWL. Things have certainly changed since then. The WDDs have had a mixed start to the seaon and were looking for a good result against a team much weaker on paper.

The Heathridge Lions we not going to roll over and let Woodies have an easy run of it however. Crowlocklockville and Hutchy were both smashed from the field very early on in the piece. This coupled with Benny G getting stuck in the mud meant the Men of Wood were light on numbers in defence. Rick Condor was bringing up the ball nicely and the Lions were looking the goods for a halftime lead. Then some inexperience from a human lineman left an opening for Big Gay and Brown Fish to exploit. They managed to get the ball free and DDD was on hand to dive in and get it out to safety. This is where things got real interesting. Neil George Wallington had gotten himself into open space in the Lions half but the DDD could not quite throw the ball all the way to him. Jarrod Slate rushed in to try and cover but he could not quite handle the slippery N.G.Wallington. With time running he calmly pick up the ball from the feet of Slate and stole into the endzone to give the Woods what had appeared an unlikely 1-0 half time lead.

The Lions looked like a spent force and the Woodies applied the blowtorch in the 2nd stanza. G.I Leafy and Mr Murray were throwing some big hits and even Benny G managed to move around a bit. Two TDs on debut to the Rainbow Warrior aswell as one for Brown Fish gave the Woodies what ended up a comfortable 4 -0 victory.

A big up to Heathridge Boys who really took it to their more fancied opponants in the first half.

3pts: Rick Condor - Played a good allround game. Hits, rushes and passes he did it all.

2pts: Jarrod Slate - This guy was certainly buzzing for this game! Almost did enough to stop the TD in the first half.

1pt: Bertram Rothild - The rock of the Lions front line. This guy has a lot of talent or at least a lot of muslce either way he was a nuisence.
