“Game 24
The long awaited clash of the two Chaos teams started with Bellua missing the game due to old injuries. The two teams moved out onto the field and setup. Schola kicked the ball and the game was off! A standard 2 turn drive by the Crowes saw WokeUpThisMorning crossing the line with the ball. Schola picked up the ball in their turn to receive, and caged it down the field. All was going well until SisterLuck had the bad form to fall down in the guts of the cage. The drive was called to an immediate stop as the boys all gathered around to lay the boot into the abomination that is SisterLuck. The second turn of fouling saw the Crowes Apothecary race on to the field to repair the damage done by the filthy hit them while they are down tactics. By this stage Schola had to leave the recovering SisterLuck on the ground and try to even the score. Dominus Mortifer amazing escaped from a wizards lightning bolt and then an unexpected Mino blitz from Freak n Roll luckily only pushed Dominus Mortifer closer to the endzone, where he calmly dodged away to score Schola's TD.
After BH a Warrior and KO'ing two other players in the first turn of the second half, it should have been an easy drive. However, the vagaries of the Chaos gods showed their hands with a failed pickup one turn, then a failed handoff the next, followed by a rerolled double skulls the next turn saw the Crowes steal the show and go 1 up. The next drive went well for Schola, getting themselves into an easy scoring position for the equalizer to tie the game. The gods had not finished giving their blessing to the retiring champions yet though. SisterLuck dodged into 3! tackle zones and rolled a -2d block on the ball carrier, knocking him over! SisterLuck followed this insane maneuver up with another dodge into a singe TZ, picked up the ball and dodged clear. Schola was able to blitz him away from the sideline so that the ball could be picked up by a sure hands player and carried over the line. The Chaos gods played their hand again, with the ball bouncing onto a prone player and into the crowd. The crowd tossed it straight at the feet of an unmarked Schola beastman, within scoring distance, the crowd went wild! Campitor excitedly seized the opportunity with both hands and proceeded to pick the ball up and score. The stadium went deathly silent when instead of picking the ball up, he choked and fumbled it. Stunned only for a moment, a great roar went up when the crowd realised that the famous Black Crowes had won a spectacular victory for their last game.

As can be the case when Chaos is represented on both sides of the field things get a little...well...chaotic! The match suffered 3 temporal warps just trying to get onto the same universe known as 8.9. This was a foreshadow to the upcoming events in that on the first attempt SisterLuck failed his niggle roll, on the 2nd ShoNuff failed his. In both cases the Apoth was used to get them into the last game...but as the GREAT UNSEEN had a master plan for his teams last game it was the 3rd load that mattered...and all passed the fitness test.
We choose "horns" for the toss as we always do...and again the hand of the GREAT UNSEEN passed across the coin of the kingdom and gave us first use of the ball. This was as presented, a standard pass and score up the wing...but it was so much more. It was a history lesson. This was the play prized by the immortal Gone, this was the play that the Herd had run a 100 times...but THIS time it was for the fans, the players, the goats of a hundred Chaos Beastmen who have seen the ball handed again and again to the Warriors...this was for the KIDS! It was also for the HALL of FAME! A pass, a catch, 2 GFIs and WokeUpThisMorning becomes the 8th HoF Crowe! THIS will be a record long in the breaking.
Kick off and defense...a moment of greatness presents itself...SisterLuck, still high on the great TD pass...sees a small gap in the defense and uses his AG5 to its fullest to get a blitz on the ball. Double Push...but he is a PRO, but the re-roll is DOUBLE SKULLS?!? Is this the end of the great one...always in Gone's shadow? Hindsight tells us this is also a foreshadow. He missed THIS time but...
More importantly...a nasty foul puts the BH on SisterLuck...but the Apoth saves his day!
Schola is everything we hate in a Chaos team! All built up CWs doing the ball running...and they have a ST5 monster! A well hidden chance to sick the Mino on him ends when the Mino fails to heed his moment. The play advances. The GREAT UNSEEN seemingly FAILS to hit the ball carrier with a Lightning Bolt! But it does take out the back marker opening a chance for the Mino to redeem himself...but alas even with frenzy all he can do is aid the enemy...and we go to the break all even at 1-1.
2nd half. We move into a pressure position early...but not heavy...it takes a dropped ball to show us our chance...and ShoNuff swoops in to collect! A very unconvincing double skull blitz on our kid is all he needs to scamper away and steal what turns out to be the decider! 2-1 Crowes!
Now we have to defend for 4 turns to end our time on the hallowed turf of the SWL! It looks bad after a Bad Kick delivers the touchback to the ST5 CW again. He makes his lumbering charge down the sideline. Crowes fly back in a scramble...Schola steadies itself with a perfect cage...it CAN'T be stopped from the draw can it???
And than a moment happens...a moment that will forever define what this Black Crowes outfit was always about...a never say die attitude til the very end.
Turn 8, all is bleak...it unfolds in slow motion. SisterLuck stands up...dodges into the cage...and unleashes a Blitz for the ages! 2d against comes up double !Pow...the mighty CW is Stunned...the ball is loose...a dodge step, a pick up, a dodging gfi...and again the Crowes fans have a hope!
The rest is, as they say, crazy man! The blitz upends the good Sister, but the ball takes a crazy bounce...and doom is presented to our heroes as the ball lies at the feet of the enemy.
But this is the Crowes...this is THEIR story...this was THEIR day! Schola will represent Chaos well in Premier...but today they bowed down to their Elders.
Today was goodbye to Legends. Today...as a young goat reached for the ball was "Twos"day ;)
