SWL Season XXII - Premier League - Round 4

The first half saw a flawless drive from the girls. Billy blender made his blocks, but wasn't rewarded with any cas, and in the meantime, we popped in a couple of fouls (BH -> regen) to remove key players from the pitch. Seeing that they couldn't stop a TD, the theatre pretty much gave up (they were getting pretty low on players too), and we put on the bash as much as possible stalling out for a turn 8 TD. Rookie ghoul, Eerie Darkwood killed himself trying to dodge away from Hed Splitta (who had quite a remarkable match all in all), but we didn't do any other lasting damage.

Half time score: 1-0

Coming into the second half, we had the numbers, but only just .. and it didn't last. This time, billy did a better job, and took down a couple of rather useful players. At the same time, we got two players sent off for fouling (I dunno what the ref was thinking!). Definitely a tactical mistake, and we got ourselves into a terrible position.

Fortunately, the dodges worked at the right time, and we were able to recover the ball ... almost. Unfortunately, failing to pick it up left the ball in the worst possible position, and Billy Blender was able to pick it up and get within 1 square of the end zone, with no one in range to get to him. How did we do it? well, a couple of extra dodges, and a chain-push to get Hed Splitta just that little bit closer. although she wasn't able to blitz him, the combination of diving tackle and side-step was just enough to stop him from escaping and scoring the equaliser.

Full time score: 1-0

3 pts - #1 Billy Blender
Kept the Aberration Theatre in the game when things were looking down. He took out two of our players, and got oh so close to a touchdown. Also, 16 blocks is a darn good effort in anyone's books - even if he does have frenzy.

2 pts - #6 Ed Sombre
This ghoul survived all match (we're not quite sure how), and made some fairly important moves in getting the ball down the field.

1 pt - #11 Norm Nosebleed
A freak of a zombie. He didn't have a particularly good game, but put in a couple of the most important hits near the ball. I can't wait to see how this guy develops with a couple more skills under his belt.

#5 Eerie Darkwood – Dead (RIP)
Mork's old injury was playing up and unfortunately he missed the game. It was a furious start with WFWO soon gaining the upperhand after some handy work by Knee Snappa and friends. We managed to get back into it in the 2nd half but just missed out on the equaliser thanks to some tricksy moves from coach Laviak.

Bit of a bugger losing Darkwood in his debut game. With Mork looking just about past it and a couple of other niggling injuries we could be on the verge of a rebuilding phase. Plenty riding on the next big game vs. the WDD.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 votes - Hed Splitta (#6) Right pain in the backside, took everything we could through at her and thanks to the handy push, saved the TD on the last turn. Hoping we get another crack at her sometime.

2 votes - Elf Bruisa (#15) Made a lot of the key hits, big 2nd half.

1 vote - Knee Snappa (#14) Had us rattled after the first couple of turns as she started clearing players form the pitch.
