“A hard game for the women from the Tapajos.

The girls started out well, hitting hard, running fast and scoring the first touchdown. After getting over their shock the norse hit back, sent the girls flying and run through to get a touchdown.

In the second half only a ten women team could be placed on the pitch, serious injuries to the strongest and most agile women a cruel blow. The ten women were quickly reduced to 9, 8, 7, then 6 in consecutive turns. But no, as this was happening the girls did not give up, even winning the ball from the middle of pitch, taking it to a wide zone. Escaping the clutches of a norse bezerker ran back across attempting to get the ball to the far widezone, but fell short mid way attempting to dodge through the majority of the norse team. Things went from bad to worse for the Tapajos women as the team was reduced to four players and the norse ran through to get a touchdown to take the lead 2-1. Lining up for kickoff the 6 women prepared for a push down the right widezone, with barely enough time to run from the middle of the pitch to the end zone. As soon as the ball was sent skyward by the norse kicker the girls blitzed down the flank, knocking norsemen out of their way and up in the air. A display of skill from the team's second thrower seen her pick up the ball mid run and place a perfect pass to one of the girls on the wing. But the girls were quickly surrounded by the norse team. Trying to blitz through the norse lines resulted in being tackled to the ground by a norse player, and with the last play done the ref called an end to the game, saving many more incoming injuries that were about to be bestowed upon the Tapajaos women.

Although a 2-1 loss and the girls first ever loss from ten games it is hard to be upset with their performance, even with only 6 women left on the pitch a touchdown was still a good possibility. And there will also be a couple of norsemen nursing some nasty bumps and bruises tonight, although they're celebratory drinking will surely wash away any pain they have.
