“Ouch, not a lot went well in our debut game. The injury toll is an obvious downer, but the actual game itself may have been even more so.

I felt we played well enough to get a win, playing good defence against the Dwarfs first drive. The dice weren't there though, and we were unable to convert good positioning into a turnover.

We managed to score on our drive, though having started without catchers (ironically in the hope of developing the team and reducing CAS) it wasn't easy. Still, we were able to use the Dwarf lack of speed against them reasonably well, and finally got a bit of luck to get the score.

We defended well with short time remaining and down on numbers on the second Dwarf drive, but they managed a risky passing play to score the gamewinner in a canter. We could have defended better if we'd abandoned all pretense of winning the game ourselves, but went for the guts or glory approach.

Team management is bemused to point out that the performance of Shrek was eerily reminiscent of those put in by the late great Axe himself.

MVP for the MWL was probably Frenchie La Monte, who handled the ball with aplomb and pull off the game winning pass, followed closely by Bobo Johnson, who used a reroll to turn a disaster for the MWL into Death for Moving On.”
