“Inaugural game for Season III of SpeedBowl and it all started with a grudgematch! The Mullets and Ardnuts have a few games under their belts, most notable is the last game of SpeedBowl Season I where the 'nuts denied the mullets the league title in a surprise win! Recently the teams played a match where the 'nuts caused the first death in the mullets camp, ever, killing Gretzky the liner. Also they injured the mullets star Ogre Mr.T, making him miss this game. Well things would be different this time round as the mullets were set to receive...

... And the 'nuts get a Blitz! The mullets struggled on and changed pland mid-stride taking advantage of one flank left unattended. A quick run down the sideline saw the mullets score 1-0 in only 2 turns. This however left lots of time for the 'nuts to try and score, and boy did they come close. The 'nuts set about hammering the mullets defensive line, picking at it until a hole appeared. A burst of players saw them practically securing a TD, but the fools went and stalled! A desperate play by star mullet Mitch Buchannon left the 'nuts ball carrier KO'd off the field. Only a minute remaining on the clock the 'nuts tried to recover the ball but were unsuccesful and half time ended 1-0.

Second half proceeded where the first left off. The 'nuts received and set about looking for that first TD, but luck would have it they had some trouble securing the ball on their half of the pitch. Blitzers wearing long wavy mullets dashed to cover the ball and smothered any attempts to give away the ball. A couple turns off push and shove gave H.I McDunnough the ball and he sprinted for the 2-0 TD, not without drama mind as the 'nuts got off a blitz against him but his superior footwork saw him dodge and weave to score. With only a couple minutes left on the clock the 'nuts tried a desperate running action towards the mullets TD zone but were stopped by Mitch. Seizing the ball Mitch saw a chance to pass it along the chain to Nigel Tufnel who sprinted for dear life for the final sore 3-0.

Was a good game and the score does not reflect overall how close this game was. Wonder what spiggle has in store for me next time...”
