This was an odd game. I scored a TD I didn't think I would and failed to score one when I though it was just about certain.

The game started ok. Needing to win to give myself a chance of qualifying for Prem, I hired the Count for the game. I got Palmed Coin and Buzzing as my 2 handicaps. Virus would have been the best outcome but the two I got were ok.

Electing to recieve I got off to a reasonable start. All 3 LOS players were knocked over but the referee was watching play like a hawk, with Linkin Park sent off for a foul in the first turn. To make matters worse, the result was only a stun.

Down a player I managed to move the ball into some protection and throw some blocks. Things turned sour soon after though when the Count rolled a 1, re-roll 1 on a GFI roll to make a Blitz. This left my Ghoul ball-carrier wide open for a Blitz. He was quickly taken down. To make matters worse, Lacrosse, my ST6 Multi-Block Buzzing Mummy was knocked over and then KO'd on a gang foul.

I managed to grab the ball again and switch play to the weak side of the field. The Count, despite being AG4, failed his hand-off roll and dropped the ball on the ground. However luck favoured me when the next Nurgle turn ended early with a double skull. The Count managed to pick up the ball this time but again failed a GFI roll. I used a re-roll and decided not to risk making a second GFI roll. For someone with ST5, AG4, Block and Dodge, the Count sure did need a lot of re-rolls still!

Unfortunately, due to not wanting to risk a second GFI, the Count was left in Blitz range. A 1d Blitz saw him taken down with a Pow, which also stunned him ("That bloody Count!" I was yelling at my computer by this time! :-)) My T8, last ditch, long-shot effort at scoring then predictably failed and I went into half-time 0-0.

My ST6 Buzzing Mummy thankfully returned for the second half and Perfect Defence allowed me to avoid too much pain to start the half. A Beastman successfully picked up the ball and moved in to protection. With a couple of Dodges and GFI's I was able to make a successful -2d Blitz with my Strip Ball Wight. Unfortunately the stripped ball bounced around a bit before coming to rest right into the middle of the Nurgle team.

A Multi-Block from Lacrosse opened up a path for the Count to get a 2d Blitz on the ball-carrier and he redeemed himself with a Pow. He managed to recover the ball before he himself was taken down again by a Rotter. A series of Blocks got the Undead a few KO's, giving them a numbers advantage. Eventually, in T15 the Count was able to move the ball downfield and in to scoring range. The Nurgle team had a chance of a -2d Block but the Beastman failed his dodge roll, allowing the Count to stroll in on T16 for the game-winning TD.

Overall it was a very hard fought game. After not managing to score on offence in he first half I was hoping to sneak out of the game with a draw. To pull of a win was certainly unexpected but very handy for the team's premiership aspirations.

Twahnlow Votes

3 Votes: Gâteau D'Anniversaire - Scored a Cas and was just all-round scary. ST4, Block, Mighty Blow, Claw, Tackle, Guard and Foul Appearance. You really do not want to be near this guy.

2 Votes: Prenez Garde de la Maman - Was a constant threat in the game. If it wasn't for the fact that I had a ST6 Mummy, this guy would have dominated. Failed a couple of Really Stupid rolls but otherwise did the job.

1 Vote: Mardi est le Plus Mauvais Jour - Safely got the ball into Nurgle protection to start the second half but couldn't stop the Undead horde in the end.
