SWL Season 28: Premier League- Game 1

For the first time in about 28 games, sadly we got less than 100 000 fans in seats, as the Vermin returned to their home, Premier League.

The first half saw the Blitz blitz off the opening kick, and grab the ball. The Vermin responded through Bormann(who?), who badly hurt the scarey buzzing Angry Andrew, and regathered the ball. After some messing about, Manfred connected to rookie Ulf Herman for the score. 1-0.

The second drive from the Blitz came unstuck thanks to Wilhelm, and Herman streaked away for his second TD. 2-0.

The next Blitz offence ended better, with Disco Dan capitalising on a rare Wilhelm error to run away untouched, and Blackwater killing Martin Bormann in the process. 2-1.

The Vermin then executed one from the textbook, with Manfred putting it on the chest of Herman for his third TD, though we lost another linerat in the process, with Luger picking up a career ending niggling injury. 3-1.

This left the Blitz one last shot at a TD, which we thought we had covered. Apparently not. Coach Chavo put together a quite admirable play to put Raging Ryan in the clear for a memorable score. 3-2.

The second half... well... the details really aren't worth raking over. Blitz continued the bad luck they'd endured all game, the Vermin played fast and direct, and Herman continued on his way to racking up 5 TDs, the most by any Vermin on debut, and probably the most by any player debuting in the history of Premier.

A tough game for Blitz to win, but they come out unscathed and well paid, and hopefully can put this to use annoying other teams this season. The Vermin looked great, but the two injuries, combined with negligable winnings due to a poor crowd, mean the match really hasn't done us any favours.

Twahnlow Votes
3 votes- #10 Maniacial Mikey: He'll no doubt have games where he pays more attention and gets more involved, but for his part, this game Mikey killed Bormann, who for the first time ever, was getting involved and doing well.

2 votes- #4 Jammin' James: Scored two casualties, one of which was the niggle of Luger, worth two votes.

1 vote- #16 Raging Ryan: Was the man set up by Chavo's impressive OTTD, definately worth a vote.

Now get out there and give those coaches of other races grief!

Season XXVIII

The Blackwater Blitz made their debut against the all conquering German Vermin in the SWL Premierhsip today, and had an object lesson in how to play an awesome running. With a little poor luck and giving away 53 TR they did well to hang in there in the first half only being down 3-2 with a notable multiple chain push after the 8th kickoff to score on the bell.

Even shorthanded though, the vermin showed their class turning the blitz over 3 time and running out deserving winners.

3 points - Ulf Herman. It's not every day that someone debuts with a 5 TD performance, totally awesome...
2 points - Manfred von Richthofen. Was everywhere. Is probably still there.
1 point - Martin Bormann. Took out the biggest threat on my team on turn 1, only to make the ultimate sacrifice on the pitch later in the game. He deserves to be remembered in the books somewhere.
