SWL Season XXVIII - Gone's Slipper Conference League XXVIII - Round 4

A Blizzard raged throughout this match, and as a result players on both sides had to take great care not to lose their footing. Receiving in the first half, the girls started moving up the pitch, but struggled all the way. The chaos defensive work was incredibly effective at forcing risk after risk to be taken, and it was only through a considerable amount of good fortune that we succeeded in taking in a touchdown. Even then, we were forced to score early (turn 4), giving ample time for our opponents to attempt a touchdown of their own. Fortunately, the blizzard made them play a conservatively and we were able to hold the lead into the second half.

Half time score: 1-0

The second half saw the chaos plan come into fruition. Removing one player from the pitch after another things started to look very grim. Luck was still on our side, however, and despite their numerical advantage, we managed to get a good hit on the ball carrier. Theo Kelly recovered it, only to fall flat on his face with a dodge (2+ of course). From there, we made a big play, moving the ball up the field fairly quickly, but not quickly enough. It was recovered in the final turn, letting the chaos gentlemen attempt an elf-like play moving the ball three quarters of the length of the pitch in one turn! Their luck ran out at the most opportune moment (for us at least), right on the final move, a GFI into the end zone.

We definitely got of lightly this match - no permanent injuries, and somehow a win. There will definitely be some celebratory drinks to be had!

Final score: 1-0

Twahnlow Votes

3 pts: Donald Hibberd
It's rare for an ogre to be deserving of the full 3 votes, but in this case, he did his job to perfection. There was hardly a turn in the match where he wasn't forcing players to dodge, including the ball carrier (more than once). Highly impressive.

2 pts: William Gunn
Removed Elf Bruisa from the pitch early in the match, leaving her out of action from turn 2 (first half).

1 pt: HC 'Nugget' Coombs
The large quantities of guard caused no end of grief, so it's only fair to award this guy (who was always in the thick of things) a vote. Oh, and he also took out Kidnee Basha in turn 2 (first half).

3 votes: Head Splitta
Even though hardly any dodges were fails this ork led the pack in staying mobile.

2 votes: Spine Thumpa
a nice run down the flank on the openning drive, turned out to be the winning TD

1 vote: Ball Dasha
Generally anoying and always in the thick of it. Her guard was much needed by the orcs today
