“With a player from each side enduring near-death experiences, but for the skills of each sides apothecaries, this was actually a brutal match between two naturally friendly races.
With only one of the two treemen present at the line out, the wood elves received first and quickly scored a TD, and then, with the momentum of a Blitz, the Wanderers pounced on the Turf Tasters again, to take the score to 2-0 by turn 3 in the 1st half.
However, the halfling team showed true grit and character as they pounded their way towards the end zone, frequently landing an elf into the KO box.
When the wood elves conceeded, it was merely to stop the rampant halflings from putting any more Wanderers out of action. Fortunately many wood elves returned to the game, but only as the second treeman arrived for the game, to the relief of the halfling coach.
The wood elves then made a delaying play, hoping that the halflings wouldn't charge up the field too fast towards them... while at the same time Ren Poisonfruit harrassed the Tasters advance. Eventually, the ball was passed to Dei Blackcurrant who, without pause ran faster than a spring hare towards the halfling endzone, with Fei Redberry hot on his heels. It was a desperate gamble that would involve going for it without the safety of rerolls, and alot of halflings ready to pounce on any mistake.
In the last turn of the game Dei Blackcurrant sprinted over the line to make it 3-1. The score was flattering to the wood elves, who made the most of the blitzes that came their way - otherwise it could have been a much different result!
