#12 Morinth – Dead (RIP)
Dear Vanyar,
Those that lurk in Mordor are a jealous and spiteful lot, plotting our downfall at each stage – it is now clear why we were banished here by Nine Books of Nagash.

The nomadic brigands of Khand are no exception, they arrived complete with an entourage of Goblin sympathisers in toe, and from the insidious instructions they game we concluded that they were emissaries of Melkor's Children. It seemed that cunning was not native to just the Freeworld but to the whole of Middle Earth for it was clear that the cowards had figured that where neither could defeat us individually, together they may have a chance.

Keen to not allow them to take the upper hand we dealt the first blows, reducing their numbers. But they proved tough and rapidly dispatched two of most capable warriors more to the glee of the Goblins than to themselves for their taste for blood had not been satiated – they cared not that the official watched them closely.

We managed to hold them, outnumbered, choosing the right time to make our score, at the bitter end of the half, this was however not without cost as an incompetent surgeon was unable to save poor Morinth – rest well my friend.

They returned to the field to mount a last second score by pushing and shoving our men into their masses, but they were foiled by their own savagery. Defeated on this attempt they ganged upon our men, finally the official took action despite the howls of protest emanating from the goblin contingent.

In the second half we were poised ready, quickly changing our formation before the kick. The confusion led to them blundering over at the LOS and allowed us to rain down upon them!

*Note to self – these Mordor Humans are more agile than we gave them credit for.

Our burst into their half was costly as they tossed the ball deep into our own half. Where agility hadn’t failed them their underestimation in us did, we sacked their stalling ball carrier besides our endzone and manoeuvred the ball back towards their own – where it belonged.

In the end, they accepted defeat and returned to form, trying to beat on my men – all save a Morrison Dancing Ogre that saw one of our brethren as his personal pole to fall over.

I am sure that despite their loss the Variags achieved that in which they set out to – hamper us against their allies, the vile Goblins, but we will not succumb.

Regards,
Tarius

Between my alcoholism and Lemur’s parents (awwww) this game took some arranging – but finally it happened. The early injuries combined with the several MNGs from the previous game made it tough going, and were it not for a PD and a quad skull on Lemur’s first action of the second half it may have proven even tougher.

Was a fun game and I really don’t know what to expect next game with two of my three tacklers AWOL for the Goblins... I won’t be taking anything for granted though!
