The first stuff up of the season, and a reminder that you're never too good to learn something. We controlled the play comfortably for the first quarter, but still found ourselves running out of numbers when it came time to kick back to our boney opposition - lesson learnt.
After some blundering from ET(a sign of things to come later in the game), the score should have been 1-1 at halftime. Should have. Instead, they looked to hold the ball up, and got what they deserved in a desperate covering tackle from Babe Ruth, who dislodged the ball, and gave the Vermin a 1-0 lead at the break.
A dodgey kick from Germany got the second half off to a poor start, and it was an uphill struggle from there. The Khemri got the ball into our half, and looked to have things under control,before Klaus got us access to the ball, Heinz scooped & flicked it to ET, who only had to make the dodge into the clear to run away untouched for what would have been the winning TD.... And he went down eating more dirt than some kind of hyper-dirt-eating-machine, for the second time in his debut game. He wouldn't want to make a habit of this in future games, I've sentenced players to LOS duty for less...
After that there was a 3d against heroic blitz from Heinz(the ridiculous thing about it wasn't that he succeded, it was that I somehow expected him to) to slow down the Khemri, and give them the fear, and as a result they(and in hindsight we were too) were happy to stall out the game and take the 1-1 result.
No injuries to any key players from either team, but some important lessons to be learnt.
