1st half, I received. Both teams got the ref, fouls ensued. My 1st foul was with Noxious NIles the Spawner on Captain Krunch (with a few assists). Death was the result and I gained a new Rotter. I eventually scored with Smallpox Jones, but left a bit of time on the clock due to some solid defense by the Legion. Next kick off the Legion got Captain KaBoom, the other bull, downfield for a pass, but it was intercepted by Shambling Sammy.

2nd half, I kicked off and got a Blitz! on the kickoff result. I was able to put some pressure on the ball, but a hobgoblin got free with it. It didn't last long and eventually I trapped him along the sidelines where Malaria Dan pushed Private Joker into the crowd. The ball bounced deep into my half, so I had to retrieve it with Anthrax Pete. It took a few turns, but eventually I made a handoff and then a gfi and only had to complete a short pass to Shambling Sammy to score a TD. It seems Sammy is better at catching balls thrown by the opposition than his own team because he dropped it. I eventually scored with Malaria Dan.

The Legion played stoutly but I had a manpower advantage early and getting the ref in the 1st half helped me more than it helped the Legion. Thanks for the game, Smiley, and hopefully you will decide to rebuild instead of retiring these chaos dwarves.

Actually, the death of the centaur was your 2nd foul (turn 2). The 1st foul was turn 1 against one of the dwarf blockers, resulting in a BH.

Going into this game, I knew the deck was stacked against me: PPD squad had more Guard, more overall strength, and a general skill advantage that seemed tailored to negate anything I might throw together. The opening turn Get the Ref and the resulting loss of critical skill players pretty much decided the game outcome on turn 2. Still trying to put some effort into it, I pieced together a scoring drive with some statistical chance of success, only to have it junked by an interception. *sigh*

So, it was a frustrating game. I wasn't mad, just irritated that I had to waste an hour on a game that was pretty much over in the 2nd turn (and yes, I understand the argument that anything can happen in a game, but I consider the game over when my only possible out is to hope the dice flat-out murder my opponent). And this game showed me the Achilles heel of Chaos Dwarves. They look good on paper, but those centaurs at critical to the teams success, especially at higher TRs. The loss of one in a game is devastating. Having to play 2-4 games to replace one without a player loss in the meantime is going to be a hard slog in League play. As unskilled as this team is, not really worth the effort. Not when I have other teams of interest.
