Before the game I said it would be a race: who can eliminate the other team's ball handlers first (i.e. would I run out of gutters before he ran out of skinks). First turn, I KO two sauruses, and things look bright immediately. We round up the ball and play keep-away while hunting skinks with my two stormvermin, who had a field day in this one. Plushy the Puppy Pulverizer and Nasty Newt combined for a nice play to get the ball back briefly at one point, but Istanbul used Shadowing to great advantage and got Nasty Newt to trip and give the ball back. We also gang-fouled Mr.Newt for a RIP, but the apo actually worked for once and got him patched up. We took the ball in on T8 for the 1-0 halftime lead.

Second half, a gaggle of sauruses woke up and we were facing a (nearly) full roster of meat-shields, plus one lone super-skink (for those who don't click links in match reports, Nasty Newt is 9/3/4/7 with Block, SS, and maybe 5 or 6 other skills). Fortunately, without Guard, there's not a lot one skink can do to hold the ball against an AG5/Leap/SB/Daunt gutter, which I happen to have. Rome only made 4 blocks all game, but every one of them put the ball on the ground. Basically, the rest of the game was Cities poking the ball loose and running away with it.

Fun time: T16 we set up heavy on the LOS, with our one-turner in a wide zone and the LOS shifted to the other side. They semi-cage up with Nasty Newt holding the ball once again. We poke the ball loose, but it falls into 3 TZs. I was almost ready to just end the game, rather than get a gutter hurt trying to make a silly play, but Prov egged me on to try it. Well, one my gutters made a 5+ dodge, 5+ pickup, 6 throw...then a 2 for a catch and off to the end zone for Orlando. We had a reroll available, but didn't need it.
