In this, the sixth game of our campaign to bring style and panache back to the SWL... well, truth be told, Lady Luck had cast her mantle over us. The orcs could not break our armour, nor could they stop the tide of agility and grace that washed o'er them.
Despite a slow start, and a seeming inability to come up with anything approaching an effective game plan (The good Doctor showed none of the forthright determination he displayed in our last match), the Dandies were able to extricate themselves from a VERY tricky position as the orcs managed an early steal.

Shaking off the cobwebs, a more effective assault was rallied, and the Dandies managed to score. Too early though, and the Mayhem were able to equalise with ease! Going in to the second half, the Dandies were facing a 1-1 scoreboard, and the Orcs to receive...when everything went completely right for them. The drunken Orcs could only stand and watch hopelessly, as their attempt at a cage was deftly cracked open, leaving a gap for the Doctor (back to his more effective self) to exploit. New catcher recruit, the knighted Austin Reed then showed a dizzying lack of personal regard, dodging INto the thick of it, and stealing the ball! The Orcs failed in their return attempt to retrieve the ball, and all of a sudden it was 2-1 for the Dandies!

Desperately trying to equalise, Mayhem critically left the ballcarrier in easy reach of a blitz by the back-to-form Doctor; the ball was still within grasp of the Orcs, and thrower Rotskab made a valiant attempt to clear it... but was outdone by Lord Burton, who rose skywards with an almight leap, and snatched the ball mid-flight. All that remained was a simple handoff to his Lordly counterpart, and the game ended, 3-1 to the Dandies.

From the shoulders of a crowd of delirious (though well-dressed) fans, Lord Burton graciously offers these comments:

I feel I really must offer 3 points to Dreggut Remy Martin - a name with class, and a solid fist that put Mark Spencer out of the game despite the lack of injury (although I suspect the fact of Mr. Spencer being awarded the MVP meant that his absence from the game had more to do with him signing autographs, than any concussive blows to the cranium...) Dreggut then managed to lighten the mood of the team with his inability to keep his feet in the second half - quite the comical fellow!

2 points I award to Uthzug Chivas Regal - his fancy fistwork kept taking players out of the game, and it was only by virtue of Lady Lucks blessing that stopped those fists doing more permanent harm!

and finally, it would be entirely uncharitable of me to NOT give a point to young Rotskab Moët & Chandon for the gift of the ball in the dying moments of the game.

Thanks for the game Erickan - unlucky in the end there, and by virtue of how we played, it should have at least been a draw. Thems the dices though, I guess! (By the way, I think this puts me one up in our head-to-head ;)

A thoroughly enjoyable game as these Department Store Mongrels were just too agile and fleet footed for our drunken orcs. Following our postponed game with Coach Morgion who had to relocate (probably forced out by a group of amazons who didn't take kindly to the treatment of their Pimps), Intoxicated knew they needed a win here to remain in contention for the premiership, but the Dandies were in good form coming in to this game, and confidence was high with Coach Luo, as he played a good game and his pansy elves were just too graceful hardly putting a foot wrong with their handling and dodges. At times it was just impossible to defend with the elves playing so well. But there were chances for the orcs but we were unable to capitalise.

In the first half Intoxicated did well to turnover the ball with the Dandies receiving first. With the ball in the hands of our Blodger Glenmorangie and heading towards the goal line, with the Dandies back peddling. A blitz to move away from an unskilled lineman and score we rolled a skull. Then in a couple of turns the Dandies scored.

With only 2 turns to score we push the blitzer out wide, subsequently a successful handoff and throw by Malibu to an unmarked Grey Goose level the match at half time.

For the 2nd half the orcs drove forward forming a cage around the ball carrier however great one dice blocking by the Dandies created the space. Then two moments of magic from the two Dandies catchers swung the match to the elves. First Doctor Waitrose dodging out and in to tackle zones to successfully blitz Grey Goose the ball carrier. But the ball still looked safe within the unbroken side of the orcs cage however the graceful Sir Austin Reed just dodge in and out of two tacklezones to pick up the ball in 2TZ and dodge out the same way and then successful threw the ball to Miss Laura Ashley safely away. The orcs were stunned and loss their way a bit as Remy Martin was knockout on a failed GFI to blitz the ball back. With more impressive dodging suddenly half the team was in the orc half and the ball was passed safely to a position the orcs couldnt get and the Dandies easily scored for 2-1.

With only 3 turns left the Orcs tried desperately to score, but failed dices offered little head way and we left the thrower unprotected and he was blitz then for the first time in the match the elves fumbled a throw and the ball was still in reaching distance. However the fate was unkind to Intoxicated today as the attempted throw to Glenmorangie near the Dandies goalline was beautifully intercepted by Lord Burton who easily handed off to Lord Debenham for 3rd TD.

Good game Luo it was very entertaining and yes that does put you one up FOR NOW!!!. Good luck in the prem next year mate. Look forward to a rematch.

Twanlows

3pts - Lord Austin Reed - Best play of the match to regain the ball within the Orc cage and grab the opening TD.

2pts - Doctor Waitrose - Dodging and sacking the ball carrier midway thru 2nd half.

1pt - Lord Debenham - His ag5 was constant menace, impossible to mark, unable to knock out, always lurking at Orc end zone waiting for a pass and was duly rewarded with the third TD for the Dandies.
