#16 Michael "Big Mike" Tucker X – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
Fourth-round game in FUMBBL Cup X and the third actual game for both teams. Despite the large difference in TV, I expected a close game from this one. Elves with a wizard and a star or two can be very dangerous, especially with two AG 5 players to scoop up any loose balls. Actually, three AG 5 players this time as ex-convict elected to hire Roxanna as a star.

The dark elves won the toss and elected to receive. The early game was all about Jill, who caused two casualties in quick succession, taking out a dodge lino and Roxanna already on turn 3. With two other dark elf players KO'ed early, the pressure was on the elves who tried to go for the TD on turn 4. However, things were complicated by the heroic efforts of the ST 5 chaos warrior Sarah, who held three opposing players with her tentacles on this turn. This meant that the dark elves had to try a riskier play, with the ball carrier blitzing his way through to the end zone. This turned out to be the key moment in the game - the dark elf blitzer hit Stephen and got double skulls rerolled into a pow: the result was a kill on the legend clawbomber, only to be cured by the apo. However, with the reroll used, the blitzer failed the next 3+ dodge, leaving the ball free Anna to scoop. At this time, ex-convict elected to go all in, fireballing the chaos cage but only taking down one player. This was still enough to open the route to the ball carrier, who was taken down easily. However, Sarah shined again, keeping the AG 5 leaper in her tentacles, thus stopping the dark elf TD. This allowed Chuck Versus Blood Bowl to dominate the rest of the half, with the team causing a KO and three more casualties in quick succession.

The dark elves still had more fight in them in the second half, with 10 players against 11 (both apos used at the end of the previous half). The chaos team started their first turn well, crowdsurfing one player and injuring another. However, picking up the ball resulted in snake eyes, giving the dark elves some new hope. Luckily for chaos, the ball was reasonably well covered, and the darkies couldn't roll well enough to free the ball. This meant that the chaos team could now safely cage up, and the game looked well in hand for them. The elves kept trying until the end, bravely dodging or leaping into the cage and constantly trying to steal the ball, but they didn't get lucky enough with the -2d block dice. By the end of the drive there were only three elves left on the pitch, and Jeff had an easy job of running in the 2-0 TD.

Thanks for the fun game ex-convict. There was little you could do with my dice so hot and you failing your key rolls. I kept removing players at a frightening pace (9 cas and 6 KOs overall) and you got stuck in Sarah's tentacles during the key moments. And of course, you failed fairly easy rolls to score 1-0 in the first half. This would have left me with only five turns to equalize, and you with a wizard on hand.
