“An excellent match, as they always are when playing against Azure. Spent the first part of the game trying to smash up Arthur Campbell before he could destroy our squad, but our boots couldn't penetrate his thick hairshirt (yes, he totally wears one - on top of his fur no less!). Since we left both WDs to assist in the fouling this meant a pretty easy score for the rats, though it did leave us a few turns to retaliate. Receiving, we moved upfield quickly while Arthur tried in vain to kill Totally Rad and came out of the half tied 1-1. On our possession we mucked around a bit at the LOS but Arthur was starting to feel it, reducing the elven ranks handily, so we pushed a bit and with some luck were able to score. On the ensuing kickoff, lightning struck: blitz kickoff result with the ball perfectly placed next to the LOS and no one around! We quickly surrounded the ball but Surf's Up bobbled the catch, leaving it open for the 5 AG gutter to swoop in and get it to a lineman downfield. 2-2 game and we were set to receive with three turns to play, when Azure's rats, upset that THEY hadn't gotten to blitz, did just that, killing Surf's Up (who was waiting under the ball) in the process. Luckily, the apo was there to patch him up, though the injuries were severe enough that he will be forced to miss his first match. Luckily, Annie Walker, too, dropped the ball so we had a chance. The big money play, however, went off perfectly (a pass to the catcher at the LOS, who dodged through some TZs and raced toward the endzone), and even though the ball carrier later was knocked down, the scatter made it possible to sneak into the endzone for the win. A very lucky ending, all in all, to one of the most exciting matches I've played in long time. Also very proud of the squad to have halted Covert Affair's 10 game win streak - dainty pastries for all! Except Game Over, Man!, who died... dainty pastries for his next of kin!”
