Opening turn, troll slayers block twice and inflict 2 CAS. A deep kick in the snow, so we blitz to open a path and flood pressure on the ball - but we quad skull and break own armor.

Nothing but skulls and pushes for few turns, but we have opening and use fireball - it hits 3 of 4 and we have shot at ball, pickup ball, just need 2+ dodge, 2+ pass with thrower, 2+ catch with MA 9 catcher and we will be up 1-0 at the half. We snake the dodge, dwarves recover - make all pickups and dodges.

Half ends with us having suffered 4 CAS (all SI/RIP). Neither KO wakes up so we are 1 player short of being able to try one turn TD.

Second half, we suffer more removals, but have chance to use superior speed to our advantage and score late in half to likely force OT. We fail 2+ catch with our catcher. Dwarves gfi twice (they use a RR on one of the gfis - the only RR used by the dwarves all game) to get ball which bounces to a longbeard. We have 2d blitz on him then chance to recover with AG 5 and score - but fail the 2d blitz and RR. Dwarves fail no blocks and walk down the pitch. The longbeards gfi and handoff to each other to chain the ball down the field for another TD at end of game.

Overall, the dwarves played an excellent game. They never over-committed - trusted in their armor and bashing to ward off the elves. The fireball was the wildcard - not much they could do but to hope for the best there - and a good fireball, but failed dodge was all they needed. Well played and grats on winning the cup!

The Dwarves feared the worst when they saw the snow, they won the toss so decided to receive first hoping to hurt as many elves as they could.

The elves kicked and it was a perfect kick. The dwarves feared the worst here, facing off against a wizard and assuming the elves would be all over the ball carrier who was deep in his own half. However the Dwarves got off to a flier, injuring two players in their first turn.

That said the elves still had a good chance at putting some serious pressure on the ball carrier, but it wasn't to be. The elf fluffed his lines rolling double skulls x2. This was a sign of things to come.

The dwarves plodded up the pitch a bit then came the wizard, sure enough the dwarf cage crumpled and the ball was free. The dwarves used inertia dampner prior to the wizard being used as they could see the opening for the elves, sadly the increased St this gave the ball carrier was made moot by the wizard as he knocked the ball carrier down too.

The elves looked sure to capitalise after making the pick up, but a snakes foiled their plans. After that it was fairly straight forward for the dwarves, they plodded down field and with the superior numbers they had gained the Elves didnt have many options left.

1-0 at the end of the drive to the dwarves.

The Elves couldnt attempt a OTT as they were one player short so they farmed an SPP.

The second half looked bleak for the elves, but a couple of early KOs to the dwarves made things interesting. The elves made their move but they again rolled 1s at the vital time, first failing a dodge then re-rolling it to escape then failing a catch.

The dwarves were quite far away so needed a brace of GFIs to attempt the 4+ pick up, the 1st GFI failed and RR'd with success, the snow had stopped at this point so the dwarves gambled and went for it again. They made it to the ball but failed the pick up, the ball scattered in to the arms of the blocker standing by his side.

The elves had another chance to loose the ball up, but their pushes were Rr'd to pushes. After this the game was over. The Elves hadn't the players or the RRs left to stop the dwarves walking down field.

A strange final in truth. The luck was certainly against Azure at all the key moments and there was little more the elves could have done, if anything at all, but at the same time the dwarves felt they did what little they can against the nasty wizard to make it hard for the elves and made the most of the luck when it came their way.
