#14 Ocyayle – Damaged Back (NI)
#2 Hippolyta – Groin Strain (MNG)
Scorpion's team captain Penthesilia was heard shrieking with rage in her post match interview:

"Hah! Nuffle smiles on these stupid small beard men with ridiculous clown cart... if I meet the gnome Lunnsson again he will be crushed within the Scorpion's maw! Ocyayle must be avenged... what?... a gaping maw?... I kill you - insolent man child!"

As the dust settled following the opening ceremony of the Worlds Edge League the fans readied themselves for what was sure to be a classic, the inaugural match of the WEBBL. With the amazons of Amayra looking to outplay the Dwarfs of Barak Var you could taste the tension in air as the ladies won the toss and chose to receive. Game on sports fans! As if in honor of the league Ephesus threw the first punch knocking the Big Anvil into the middle of next week, a sure sign that this league will be what you think it is! As the half progressed it took a more familiar pattern with the Scorpions hitting hard and outmanoeuvring the Machinators. Having dominated the early proceeding the Scorpions decided to run in the td and so remove the intimidating Big Forge from the pitch and further increase their numbers advantage. With the half drawing to a close the Machinators secured the ball and sent a message to the Scorpions that they were in for a fight with a big hit from the Bright Helm send Ocyayle to the stands with an injury that may well impact her career. Despite their best efforts the Machinators could not move the ball far enough down the pitch and the Scorpions took a well deserved lead into half time the dwarfs were further frustrated when they saw the Amazonian apothecary fix up Ephesus after a cracking hit from Logazor to end the half. What a half.
A quick snap started the second half and the dwarfs looked to do what they do best crack some skulls and grind down field. And so it was that the dwarfs moved slowly removing a few players along the way looking for that opening to allow them a shot at a td. As the grind moved on and the numbers advantage swung to the Machinators a dash for the ball by Penthesilia saw her over stretch and tumble to the ground could this be the opening they were waiting for. Alric made a run for it but left too many of his team mates behind leaving a shot for Smyrna to save the match the hit was good but she couldn’t old onto the ball and the fans were in the game. A throw to midfield favoured neither team but made for a tense ending to this opening match up. Scrambling to the ball the Machinators were just about able to secure it and the drive was on for a last turn push for the end zone. A solid last push and the Crimson Axe was able to run in a well earned score and the game was drawn which in the end was probably the right result. As the clock ran out both teams stood their ground and a draw it was to be, with Paphos and Pure-Forge taking the MVP’s the game was complete and both teams left the pitch feeling that they probably could have won it on a different day but ultimately glad they didn't lose. The Scorpions can be pleased they played so well but will rue the costly injuries in their next match; the dwarfs were solid but could easily have lost it and will have to step up their game if they want to be title contenders.
