Both teams knew this was "must win" to make any post-season. The Expats were giving away a jaw-bone-dropping 580k in inducements, but were shaking in their lizard-skins when they saw a Wizard, a 'Saw and 3 Bribes added to the Dirty Player already on the opposing roster.
The Expats chose to receive, and the Pillars came out fouling, but late Turn 2 the 'Saw kicked back and KO'd itself. By Turn 4 the Expats had broken the ball and several players deep, and screened off that corner of the field, and Turn 5 tried a hand-off to a Saurus, which failed. The Pillars had repeated trouble with their no-block Tomb Guardians against the Blocking Sauri and could not present any real pressure. The Turn 6 Ag 4 pickup was a 1, but it bounced straight into the hands of the same Saurus to end that turn. A Lightning Bolt dropped him to the ground, but the +Ag skink was able to make good on the score Turn 7.
The Turn 7 kick produced nothing but a foul (from the 'Saw, who awoke to find he was still in the game via a Bribe) took out the Expats' Frenzy saurus BH'd, reducing the Lizards' advantage.
2nd half, an extremely short kick fell on the LoS, and a miscalculation left the Khemri ballcarrier open to a blitz. The ball was popped, and after a fierce 1-turn contest (during which the Krox was KO'd and another Saurus BH'd), several skinks ganged up to shift a skeleton and another skink grabbed the ball and scampered clear, waiting before scoring to put the Expats up 2-0 to end Turn 4.
The Turn 5 kick saw only 4 Sauri, the Krox, and 5 skinks facing an intact Khemri squad (less only the 'Saw), and the Pillars pushed deep up one side, leaving the other open. Early Turn 5, the Krox successfully RR'd a Break Tackle, then pulled off a double-GFI blitz to pop the ball loose again and remove the only Khemri ball-handler from the field. The rest of the team swarmed to the ball, and that was the game, 3-0.
Despite the dominant win and making the post-season, the Expats missed winning the Conference by 1/2 tie-breaker point - 1 casualty - despite throwing almost 60 blocks. But despite almost 100 combined blocks, there were no permanent injuries to either team - a welcome rarity.”
“Unfortnatly not much to say here. The first half saw a well played drive from the Lizards ending as it should with a TD. I beleive the pillars were not too ridiculous until then.
Second half then began and a huge mistake turn 2 and left the ball carrier open... stupid bones!!!! and what had to happen happend...
Standard game with a huge TV difference that doesn't offer much space if luck doesn't kick in, it didn't. I whish I had done better to make it a more interesting game. Next season maybe.”
