Looking to defend their league title The Order began the 3rd season of the NSL at home in the Frozen Sea Conference against the necromancers known as the Naglfari Vikings. The two teams had fought to a draw towards the end of the NSL's inaugural season but since then the Vikings had accumulated a few more corpses and a few more skills.
The Order received and the Vikings put up a stout defence. Finally a couple of key knock-outs helped create some space for the chaotic dwarves and they made some progress. The necros started to play the man not the ball but their lack of blocking skill, and the dice, counted against them and The Order scored without losing any team members.
The second half began with a touchback and a tight scrum ensued in the middle of the pitch. Despite league rules to the contrary claw and mighty blow stacked nicely for the Vikings to remove a key defender from around the ball and when the Vikings followed this up by giving one of the hobgobs a niggle they appeared well placed for an equaliser. However it was not to be as one of the puppies rather carelessly knocked himself out, worse still it was while he was carrying the ball. This allowed The Order to recover and scamper in for a second. The home crowd then took the field a little prematurely, which denied the Vikings a well-deserved consolation goal.
