“NWFL Season 14 NWC Final - The Calculated Risks Were too Damn High!

So far it was the year of the Sharks, a fearsome squad of strong and skillful Orcs, 7 4ST+ menz led by the amazing Tiger, a legendary freak of nature who only bows to the likes of Morg, Griff, and Debog. There was little Victo Power shortsighted crew could ever do against a team coached by the always dangerous Monad. At least that's what the beards thought until Nuffle dawned upon the game.

The Chaotic God made Its presence feld before the first block, by giving the two teams a bribe, a Kick-Off result that always warms the Toaster. The first block wasn't bad either with Robert-Denis Rheault, who is having the playoffs of his life with five CAS in two games, knocking out a rare one-skilled Orc lino. But already after an uneventful second turn the Sharks pressure was too damn high for the inexperienced Victo coach, who miscarried his central cage. This led to a 2D blitz by Tiger, who stunned Little Tom to take the ball. The mistake was exactly what was needed, though: the Toaster blitzed back and KOed Tiger, who had to sit for the rest of the half. The brawl that followed ended with 5 KOs and two CAS for the Sharks vs a single CAS for Victo Power Racing. The greenish apo saved Whale from drowning in his own blood.

The second half started no better than the first for the Sharks with a blitz, a tactic that nevertheless does not serve Dorfs best. Still, it somehow compelled Tiger to score in three turns. This calculated risk was a master stroke, as the second bribe wasn't enough to convince the ref to keep the Toaster. Things looked better strength-wise, even after Lemon got surfed and Whale KOed - Hydro Man got badly hurt and Dan Wang Gong Bong a groin strain. A last ditched effort to create a side-cage failed to a missed GFI by Chief Buck and a missed dodge by Little Tom. We go into overtime.

The Dorfs win the toss, but it's still ten ordinary players vs nine formidable ones, the Sharks with 3 RRs and Victo none. After a Quick Snap, a wall of Dorfs is formed in the wide zone, the third of which is destroyed by Sand Tiger, who seriously injures Colico. A war of Stand Firm follows, where Victo's mix of SKULLs and PUSHes don't allow them to gain any ground. They still succeed in holding the ball after Robert-Denis seriously injures Sand Tiger.

So the game gets decided by a coin toss with no RR on both side. Nuffle smiled again on Victo. Considering the team they met, it may very well have been their only chance that they could ever win that game. The calculated risks were too damn high!

Contrary to the Butte Kickers, the Sharks' core is still intact to exact revenge next year. We'll still have to deal with these bunch of hardskinned freaks next year, and perhaps forever. May Nuffle have mercy on our poor, hairy souls.”
