“XFL XI Norse, Round 1

The first victims of the Freedom Fighters were caught by total suprise. Cook Vegeir did an amazing job (maybe thanks to his assistant, a halfling), totally distracting the team with the smell of roasted boar and a delicious mushroom sauce (stole all rerolls both halves). The musicians of Aman Amorth were performing in the stadium, heating up the atmosphere.

First half (Freedom Fighters kicking)

Boomer did not miss a throw with his bombs (although one was caught and thrown back at him). The Hooligan's crumbled, while the Freedom Fighters' crude armor held, at least in this half. A divine intervention (what else could that lightning have been?) struck down Toothless and some renegades stole the ball right from his body, heading for the opposed endzone. When Toothless tried to catch up, he was brought down by a stretched leg, pinching himself a nerve. The thieves waited comfortably while their mates continued kicking and beating opponents off the pitch. A too loose defense allowed Ulfwernerer Fishlegs to bring down the ball carrier and steal the precious item, but three renegades were enough to bring the brute down, take the ball over the line and score right before the final whistle of the first half.

Second half (Hairy Hooligans kicking)

With their KO'ed players not returning for the second half, the Hooligans started their desperate defense one man down. They pressed hard and the (in the fine art of Blood Bowl) inexperienced Freedom Fighters soon left them a chance to knock the ball carrier over. A fierce fight erupted with players taken out on both sides. Helmut Wulf knocked out the Snow Troll with his saw, only to get pushed right into it seconds later by an opponent. Rookie Ulfwernerer Hiccup Junior (who had earlier in the game broken a Freedom Fighter's neck) went into frenzy and killed one of his opponents, only to get send into the dirt badly hurt by female renegade Ingrid on a defensive block. Being clearly in the majority, the Freedom Fighters finally managed to retrieve the ball and again managed to score in the very last seconds of their drive, while Berserker Baggybum IV launched a last attack against their leader Skidi - who send him home (and probably into retirement) crippled, with a pinched nerve. A final LOS was set up, but again the demoralized Hooligans did not manage to cause any damage.

A glorious victory for the renegades from the Vanaheim Mountains!
