“This was an important match to secure the 1st round playoffs bye, as Patriots were contested by 49ers and Universe for that privilege. And the game was played against a very capable opponent, who are famous for
- Making the playoffs in the previous season
- Playing in one of the toughest division in DLE
- Killing str4 wolfskins player
- Janine having a tremendous fame for her bloodlust
So the team went into the game as a must win, high concentration. The practice leading up to the game felt good, so the warmup, and got intel the opponent plans to sacrifice vegetables to Nuffle instead of goat. So all was looking good...
...and indeed it was good! The match started with Cascade receiving, Patriots line holding up (with the exception of Glennon whose armor provided only partial protection, protecting him from the injury but not from a KO), and the Cascade's lack of agility being exposed. Their QB could not hold onto the ball after a perfect backcorner kick, and the ball was soon in the Boss' hands. Bortles was sacked, but the ball was protected anyway, and the Patriots players cornered the Cascade and grinding on them. After Janine was eliminated by Mack (who previously eliminated their DirtyPlayer), the coast seemed to be clear, and Bortles protected the ball. It was all KOs though, so the affair become 1sided by the end of the half, but not lethal by any means.
The 2nd half saw the Pats having a little trouble in the 1st and 2nd turns, not having peak efficiency, and positioning challange after the deep kick, but there was no disaster, everybody did at least average job, and get the act together. It certainly helped that Janine was not in her top form (maybe she was indeed impressed by Winston's charm).
Patriots won in the match in spite of
- Being outblocked for the 1st time this season
- Having putrid CAS conversion (2% this game vs 8%+ in the season)
- Being outfouled
We believe that the keys to victory were:
- Ballhandling superiority
- Quality of blocks (2d or sometimes even 3d)
- Great effort of players
- Lots of KOd cascade players
- Referee with eagle eye, sending off Cascade players left and right.”

Cascade players never got around to doing what they can do, until Zabel killed Jenkins in the very last turn of the match, and that done so expertly not even the apo could do anything about it. Zabel was also the one to KO AV10 QB Glennon in the opening turn, and he did a heroic job in between, but most Cascade players seemed suspsiciously happy in the KO box...
Coach Vatn was surprisingly dissatisfied during the match, given that he up front had expected a big loss and a corresponding loss of key players to perms and kills.
Rumours say that certain administrators in the Cascade clubhouse has started a betting pool on who could have outbribed them in the fight for the favour of the ref... Surprisingly, the Patriots are not the top suspects...”
