#3 Armada VIII – Dead (RIP)
#11 Freeblades IV – Broken Neck (-AG)
To be fair to Stikki, I didn't fail everything in the second half. It was only when I would attempt to activate a player with the ball that I would fail. :)

35 GFI's! Wow.

1: This game.

It didn't start off that way. For the first half of the first half, things were pretty even, with both teams scoring every two turns. It actually looked like being a nice high-scoring game with lots of passing. I was enjoying risking long passes with the new thrower, steinerp was more concerned with getting his rookie thrower up to 6 SPP with some quick passes, while his skilled up thrower took on the longer, more important stuff.

Anyway, by turn 6 I was 2-1 up and expecting to go into the half at 2-2, or even 3-3 if we both made one-turn attempts. What I wasn't expecting was for steinerp to roll double skulls as his final action of the half before running in the score. A hugely lucky break for me.

Still, the Union were getting the ball back after the break and as is so often the case, the wood elves were just starting to run low on players, so it was still all to play for.

And then steinerp failed everything. And I mean everything. It didn't matter if it was the throw, or the catch, or a dodge, or a throw...he even got his lineman sent off for a foul that KOd the wardancer - who then returned straight away anyway. And every time something went wrong, there was my thrower, ready to step in and ruin steinerp's afternoon. Three times pretty much exactly the same thing happened; steinerp failed an easy 2+ or 3+, I then failed nothing at all and ran in the score.

And then as a final insult, I injured his vet thrower when all I needed was a pushback, and he picked up a -AG. I think that on its own sums up the game. I know this kind of thing happens when the game relies so much on chance - everyone gets a terrible game, or the perfect game, but it still sucks to be on the receiving end.

But it is what it is.

Springforward ended up with an impressive 6 for 44 (not bad for a 2-skill thrower) and for once the MVP went where it deserved to. Spiderplant, on the other hand, was completely useless. He failed 3 take roots in the first half, and managed only 4 blocks in the entire game. Okay, so his guard was useful on occasion, but that's one hell of a large pay packet for that kind of performance.

My rating is way up again now, thanks to the arrival of a second wardancer, and I'm starting to feel the team has become something of a glass cannon - the catchers are amazing while they're on the field, but once they're safely in the KO/injured boxes, the team is somewhat mediocre to say the least.

And finally, I haven't ever kept score, but I think 35 go-for-its in a single match has to be somewhere close to my record.
