This game turned out to be a true classic. Handicap roll was greased shoes on my thrower, but as I was kicking anyway I just left him on the sideline to clean his cleats. A perfect defense allowed me to be in position to steal the ball away early and pass it forward to my catcher sitting by his lonesome deep in enemy territory for the score.

Line up again, and he systematically pushes forward for all he's worth. He decides to stall a turn on his score, trying to get his bull centaur to score for a skill, and that turn stalling nearly cost him. My boys (with one notable exception) were dodge crazy, almost never failing a dodge-away to get in position for assists. I knocked him down and ended my turn 7 with the ball in the hands of my str 4/ag 4 blitzer and my catcher deep for a second score, again all alone. However, with clever positioning of his guarding dwarves he was able to jar the ball loose, and with a couple lucky bounces it landed in the endzone for him to scoop up for the tying score.

I'm sure my opponent believed himself to be safely tied going into the halftime show, only putting out three small fries on the line and his kicker deep. But through careful positioning and superior use of the frenzy skill on two of my players (and a touch of luck) I was able to push forward my mv 8 catcher the three steps he needed to reach the endzone...IF I could get the ball to him. Tricky proposition, as the weather had suddenly turned very sunny, and the kicker had landed the ball in the endzone. But after having set up the chain-push blocks properly my boys were not to be denied, converting the long pass in the sun forward, handing off to my catcher, who then gfi twice to reach paydirt. It was a play of beauty, brought tears to the eyes of many in the crowd. (Though they'd likely say it was due to the sunlight...)

Second half, I'm receiving the kickoff, and surge forward down the left sideline. However, I underestimate the annoyance factor of standfirm on his players, and he's able to relieve me of the ball and swing it around the other side of the pitch, where I have no blockers capable of stopping him. Now, he could easily have stalled all half had he wanted, but my boys were rather annoyed at having lost the ball and took out their anger on his players, producing a string of injuries to free up a blocker or two to threaten his ball carrier, who proceeded to score. (Purple couldn't believe a cd team could get out-cas'd by a human squad.)

Plenty of time left for me, but then it happens--blitz! Fortunately, he can only field 9 players to my 11 and is unable to completely wrap me up, and so my ogre and two escorting blitzers rumble down the left sideline with the ball while the rest of my squad keeps his boys tied up in the middle. I easily could've scored, taking the lead and very probably the match, but I got greedy and tried to handoff to my ogre in the endzone for the score and his skill. Didn't quite work out, but the ball landed next to me and I had 4 players nearby to his 2. (With several gfi's, 3.) Figured I'd try again next turn, and the one after if need be.

But through judicious use of gfi's and a chain push of his own, the ball ended up squirting out of bounds, to get thrown by the crowd back in to...one of his guys near my endzone. I still outnumber him, and thanks to my superior dodging this game I increase the odds in my favor, but again stand firm defies me. I'm left trying to dodge through tz's while simultaneously gfi'ing, and it just didn't work out. So the game ended in a draw due to my own greed, but then after two hours of hard strategy by both sides there really was no other way for the game to end and be fair.

Wonderful game, Purple, and sry about your centaur. Rematch will be available when you desire.
