“Year 1, Summer - BWM3 vs FOE3 round 3:

After last game’s defeat, Lyndon the Seafarer, head coach of Amanar Archivists, submitted his team to a punitive series of hard physical exercise to empty the head and sharpen the body. Seated like a king on his massive wooden throne, he shouted instructions from the sideline of the practice field. “Hold that line!”, he bellowed, as two lines of sea elves dressed in full plate crashed into one another. “The side giving in has deck duty for the next sea voyage”, he continued, offering additional incentive to the young elves not to give ground. Eventually Caoran Surgeriser created an opening in the opposite line, planting a well-aimed knee in his opponent’s thigh. Taeron Silvershell, on the receiving end, moaned and fell back. Caoran’s face showed a grim smile when Lyndon broke off the exercise. “Looks like you’ll be scrubbing the deck then”, Caoran teased his younger, less experienced, teammate. “Let me see if I can find you a brush”, he added to the insult. The young elf said nothing. Instead, he rejoined his teammates and continued the scrambling. Eventually Lyndon blew off the training session, allowing his team some well-deserved rest.

The next day the Archivists faced the Women’s Order Magna Domina on the pitch. The elves were highly surprised when they learned that they would face female players on the pitch. Their wonder increased even more when they witnessed which women they would play. Carrying similar bulky armor as their own, and wearing sour, worn down and unpleasant faces, the Sigmarites had the look of fanatic zealots, especially the Matriarch. Still figuring out what such a sinister cult was looking for in a game of bloodbowl, the elves took to the field, taking position. On the sidelines Lyndon had taken place on top of his wooden throne, where he had an excellent view on the pitch.

Then the referee blew his whistle to start the game. The Archivists started kicking in the first half but received a Blitz! on the kick-off. Ethandril Silverdrop lithely dodged through and ran towards the ball but got brutally pushed out of the way by a Sister next turn. Another Sister put in the boot, only to get herself sent off for reckless play. For the remainder of the drive, both teams were involved in a tight struggle, the massive armor plates preventing much damage either side. The elves closed off the sisters’ advance, and even unceremoniously surfed an astonished sister into the crowd, but in their eagerness forgot that one sister had been left nearly alone on the other side of the pitch. The ball quickly went that side and the elves never saw it again: 1-0 at halftime.

The second half started with the Archivists receiving. The struggle that had started in the first half continued in the second half. The elves switched from one side to the other and back again, but without advancing much. When Ethandril finally managed to push through, he subsequently got taken down and fouled off the pitch. The situation started looking dire. But when the needed is highest, salvation is nearby. Bella the Executioner knocked herself down, allowing Gildor to hand off the ball to Korvan, who ran in the equalizer in turn eight: 1-1. Lyndon cursed his team for not being able to beat a crowd of women, but many elves were secretly glad they had managed to pull off a tie.

First tie for the Archivists this season!
