Year 1, Summer - BWM3 vs FOE3 round 4:

This week the Archivists would face another female team, the Sisterhood of the Thorn. After last week’s draw against Women's Order Magna Domina, Lyndon the Seafarer, the sea elves’ captain, was determined to avoid such a shameful result. Rumor had it that one or two young elves even had made some indecent suggestions to some of the Sigmarites during the game. He didn’t care whether it was to distract them during the match, he just wouldn’t suffer another such embarrassment. After a week of spartan training discipline, Lyndon found his Archivists ready for the game against their cousins from Avelorn.

At kick-off of the first half the Archivists received the kick. For a few turns the sea elves slowly advanced, but it was hard work dislodging the Avelorn block. In turn four the Archivists even had to allow a 1d blitz on the ball, but it was only a push. The sea elves had understood the message though and scored before risking worse: 0-1 in turn five. This left more than enough time for the Sisterhood of the Thorn to equalize. Applying their lithe agility and sheer speed, they left the worn-down sea elves behind and easily scored the equalizer in turn eight: 1-1 at halftime.

Things didn’t look too bright at the start of the second half. The Avelornites would receive the kick and hadn’t lost a player yet. Both teams engaged in a scramble in the middle of the field for a few turns until the Sisterhood decided to break out. They set up a half-screen, but somehow forgot to close the backdoor. The Archivists thankfully accepted the gift and managed to set up for a 2d blitz. Gildor Tidebreaker kicked the ball loose and found himself even recovering it afterwards. One turn later he got wrestled down (narrowly avoiding a crowd surf) and lost the ball. The ball was picked up by Alasse, who immediately passed it to Ayla Zymos, who was waiting to run in the touchdown, but the latter missed the catch. Caoran Surgeriser managed to get his hands on the ball, but found it hard to keep it safe. Meanwhile the Sisterhood had ran out of rerolls. At some point this caused a turnover, opening the much-needed space for the Archivists to move forwards again. A screen was set up, but the lithe she-elves managed to bypass it. Nevertheless Gildor, who had recovered the ball from Caoran, survived a 2d blitz with wrestle. The sea elves advanced further and set up another screen. Once more the Avelornites bypassed it and this time they managed to take down the ballcarrier. Worse, the ball was immediately evacuated and suddenly the Sisterhood seemed to steal the win away from the Archivists! Fortunately for the sea elves, the last pass was fumbled, leaving the ball on the ground. Then the she-elf standing next to the ball was blitzed out of the way, allowing Feldor Deepdiver to pick it up and lob it to Ethandril Silverdrop, who gracefully caught the pass. He then handed it over to his cousin Eldain Greenripple, who eventually ran in the winning touchdown: 1-2 for the Amanar Archivists after a hard-fought game that could have easily gone either way!
