The knives saw fit to put some less than appetising additives in the dog food, and two opposing players didn't make it to the match (complaining about some sort of virus or something). This gave them just the break that was needed to hav a chance in this seemingly impossible match.

Choosing to kick, the knives took advantage of some traditional orcish ball handling skills, pulling away to a 1-0 lead after 4 turns. The dogs seemed unable to do any damage to the elves, and they were still at their "full strength" of nine players for the second drive.

Their defence faltered, allowing the dogs to sneak in a TD on turn eight. Once again, if I had been thinking a little clearer, I would have been able to prevent it by moving an extra elf in next to the ball. Made a good match of it, going into the second half with a score if 2-2.

Things got a little bloodier in the second half. After sneaking through a gap in the orcish defence, the knives managed to bring the score up to 2-1 with their newest player Arkadia proving his worth once again. Things were looking bleak going into the final drive of the match. With only six remaining elves on the pitch, it was going to take a stroke of fortune to give them a chance of holding off the orcs. There were oohs and aahs from the crowd when the orcish thrower once again failed to pick up the ball, giving a short window of opportunity to the knives, who immediately applied pressure on the ball. Not enough though, and a short pass put the ball in a much safer position for the orcs. That they didn't count on was their blitzer's inability to hold onto the ball, leaving it on the ground again. Calling the whole team over for a quick meeting, Erytheia realised that the whole team was now surronding the ball. Not wanting to risk anything too flashy, they held position around the ball, Fatalis putting in a turn 7 block that killed a black orc (saved by apo). The orcs really didn't have a chance to score after their bad luck trying to pick up the ball, and the game ended with a score of 2-1.

With nothing permanent from the match, and 20k in winning, this is one of the 'nicest' games I've had in a while :)
